There are 2 systems of counting in the Philippines: 1. decimal system 2. quinary system This is used in more than 150 Philippine languages and dialects. Only one dialect of a language uses a quinary & decimal interchangeably.

Introduction • In the Philippines only Chabacano uses the Spanish way exclusively. • About the paper: – This deals with the indigenous number names in the Philippine languages. It describes the formation of the indigenous number names in these languages from 1 to 999,999. – The number stopped at 999,999 because there hasn’t been an indigenous word for million.
