Prehospital care:
Basic life support. Advanced life support.
Does the management of a patient in ER differ from that in OPD or the ward ? -Get to the core of the problem. -Aggressive resuscitation and the management of life-threatening injuries, as they are identified, are essential to maximize patient survival.
History: - A Allergies - M Medications currently used - P Past illnesses / pregnancy - L Last meal - E Events / Environment “ AMPLE history “
Primary survey: A Airway B Breathing C Circulation D Disability E Exposure / Environment
Adjuncts to primary survey:
-Electrocardiographic monitoring -Urinary and gastric catheters -Monitoring -X rays and diagnostic studies
Secondary survey
Adjuncts to the secondary survey
Reevaluation
Definitive care
*Records
*Consent for treatment *Forensic evidence
