DevTrack ClearCase Integration A detailed look at the TechExcel ClearCase add-on module

Overview This add-in module enables development teams to easily associate ClearCase element changes with DevTrack issues (defects or change requests). It automatically records history information and the relationship between DevTrack issues and ClearCase elements (files). This integration module supports Unix/Linux as well as Windows platforms. The DevTrack-ClearCase integration is enabled in the DevTrack Admin application independently for each DevTrack project. The DevTrack administrator can define the ClearCase VOB directories for each DevTrack project for which the DevTrack and ClearCase integration is enabled. You can define a mapping between DevTrack users and ClearCase users, and can also enable DevTrack issue state transitions for the ClearCase element operations, which will enforce the defined DevTrack workflow rules. Whenever a developer is performing a ClearCase operation such as Check-out, Check-in, or undo Check-out, the integration program will first find the appropriate DevTrack project(s) for the elements based on the mapping between the DevTrack project and ClearCase VOB directories defined in the DevTrack Admin. The integration program will then allow the ClearCase user to search for and select the related DevTrack issue(s) to associate with the ClearCase operation. The program will then record the operation, the elements, the versions involved, the ClearCase user, the date/time, and the user’s comments for this operation. The ClearCase user can also change the associated DevTrack issue’s Progress Status to the appropriate next state if this feature is enabled within the DevTrack Admin. Both the DevTrack Client application and Web interface have a ClearCase page to display the associated ClearCase operations and elements, and the DevTrack Report view provides complete history information between the DevTrack issues and ClearCase operations. DevTrack users can also search for all the issues related to ClearCase elements by operation type, element and version, time, and users.

II. Integration Program 1.

Automatically display the related DevTrack project(s) based on the project map defined in the DevTrack admin and the element(s) involved in the current ClearCase operation.

Able to change the Progress Status and Current Owner of the selected DevTrack issues.

Able to add comments for the ClearCase operation.
