Oromia’s Economic and political OUTLOOK Combating Abyssinianzation by re-uniting the By Ashete Hunde Ibsaa

There is something of a paradox in the way that the Oromians and the Ethiopians traditionally think about the meaning of freedom. The Amhara and the Tigreans go to a great effort to explain how Ethiopinisim is the beginning of every existence, that there is no nation ever existed “before” or “outside,”Ethiopia and thus Ethiopia for them is the universe. So, according to the Ethiopianists, Ethiopinism is infinite because the philosophy behind Ethiopia cannot be separated from their own existence. In short, no Ethiopia means is, no Tigre/Amhara identity, therefore, freedom means is death for them. For the Oromians on the other hand, Ethiopia and Ethiopianism is Abyssinians rigid philosophy surrounding 100 years of colonial experience thus those overlapping mythologies of Queen Sheba, Tewodros, Minilik the first, Izana, and the 3000 years history are considered like the story of Cinderella, the creation of America’s Hollywood writers of the 21 century.

Hence, any discussion related to the Freedom of the people in Ethiopia becomes like an argument that goes among the scientist and religious people regarding whether or not time existed, where scientists argue that “time never started" and the Christians would argue that time started after Jesus was born. But in our case however, whether Ethiopia existed for 3000 years or does not exist at all, the basic theory of freedom does not allow us to continue arguing for ever in both directs of apat and future and thus it is time to move on and understand the meaning of FREEDOM. If nothing else, we know that the paradigm of a homogeneous Tigre tribe started from Tigri and expanded it’s control all over Oromia and now established what it calls “ the government of Ethiopia” just like the Amharas, who did the same thing some 100 years ago. If this is a fact beyond reasonable doubt, then now is as good a time as any to contemplate what we already think we do and do not understand about the meaning of FREEDOM. make sense because they fit the framework of classical rich men or political opportunism in general relativity, but we know that this framework isn’t right. This is to say that what satisfies Alamudin and Efrem Isaq in Ethiopia under the conditions they are in, does not necessarily satisfy our past or current condition. The obvious choice for the Oromo nation therefore is “something better for them” not something better for those who already are in a better position. There are two tacks we can take here. We can either be specific about what we want and go get it or offer ourselves a particular model of theory that might replace both our FREEDOM and the better position that the Abyssinians are holding in our own capital city and country at large. In the last few decades, a theory of FREEDOM for every oppressed nations and nationalities has emerged as the most promising candidate as most of countries around the world were forced to give up on their rigid and infinitely ambitious theory of obliterating freedom seekers. By having an elected trusted leader, the Oromo Liberation Front will have a unique turnaround opportunity, whereas trying to jump into this cyclic nature of the Ethiopian politics will only indulge the Oromo nation into an infinite suffering economically and psychologically stretching endlessly into the past and the future. The looming flaw of Abyssinianization via the celebration of their Flag day and their Orthodox church propaganda only provides homogeneity of every ethnic group at the cost of losing own identity and that is too serious of a matter. Abyssinians struggle is to patch the horn of Africa with their uniform Amharic and borrowed Orthodox religion on large scales but to simply extrapolate this smooth, yet, deceptive Abyssinians political culture is hopelessly parochial. Therefore, we should entertain the possibilities that our own theory provides us yet the unity of purpose should come first.
