Input Devices You need to know about a range of input devices. You are expected to be able to ‘describe, commenting on their ergonomic design….’ Ergonomic design means: A design which is made for ease of use and prevention of long lasting injuries caused through use of normal designs. You need to describe the device, not what it does. There is a subtle but important difference here. It is tempting when describing a mouse to say ‘it is moved around the screen, it points and selects things’. For this syllabus, that is not what they are looking for. You need to provide a description of the input device i.e. It is a palm shaped piece of equipment. Most have two buttons, although some have three. It can either be attached to the computer by a wire or can be wireless and controlled by infra red or radio waves ……….. and so on’ Input Device Keyboard
