What indicators have proven your Innovation Funded Project to be a success? - Comparisons of achievement in O.W.A. scores from Terms 1 to 2, in percentages by grade (1-8) and by gender - Comparisons of achievement from Junior Grade(4-6) report card writing strand marks from Terms 1 to 2, in percentages listed by grade and by gender - Increase on teacher knowledge with regards to gender and writing instruction through staff book club (Boy Writers,’ by Ralph Fletcher) and gender teaching practicums - Anecdotal comments from teachers on increased level of creativity in boys’ writing 2. Would you have done anything differently knowing now what you know? - Our staff book club had sporadic attendance. It was the second book club we had participated in. We would have changed the media type into something like a video or podcast. 3. How is this project sustainable? How might it be adapted for higher or lower grades? - Parental involvement and knowledge base will continue to support their children’s learning needs - Students became more self advocating because learning is more successful - Teachers have determined success in using gender strategies - Board support for sharing at the principal level -Continue to reflect on interests of students to expose them to engaging consumable materials
