ONE DAY IN MY LIFE … The day begins with the awakening of the clock at 7h15 am. I get up, wake my youngest daughter to go to school. After the morning hygiene take a pill, followed by my breakfast, I feed a little rabbit that I have and put some water on a begonia. I serve a coffee to my wife, catch the keys of house, wallet and cell phone and at 8h05 am I get in the bus 35 line HUC-Pedrulha. At 8h30 I go to Caixa Geral de Depósitos to make deposits connected with the count of service and at 8h50 am I am at the service. I change clothes and at 9h00 I enter the Administrative and financial Section. First thing to do is o connect the computer and the printers, while the colleagues of service are arriving with “good mornings” and the respective military greetings happen. When the team is complete we have a small daily meeting to determine tasks and inform the others on new determinations, such as circulars and notes on new legislation. When he meeting ends I check the e-mail and the Internet and intranet and have a look on Diário da República. Then I make some rectifications on maps of monthly payments and the information on the transfer of allowances for payment of judicial discounts. I open box Ebanking, which I do daily, check if the transfer is already in the count, take an impression, register it on the diary of treasury and do the launch in W Count (a program of accountancy in the Police). I return to the Ebanking and I make the launch in the respective counts of destiny. If the counts are from Caixa Geral de Depósitos, they are designated by internal transfers, if they are from other bank they are interbank. In both cases they can be multiple or singular. After validating the transfers they are signed by the 2nd subscriber and I send an e-mail for each solicitor to inform about his transfer. Besides this, I make other transfers for the Administrative Advice, hand over the monthly receipts of gratifications and prepare the respective guide of delivery. I do transfers for the section of food and allowances for other sections. At 10h30 am I go to the living room for a cup of coffee. I am called to the accounting head for a small meeting with chief administrative and financial sections, where we are asked, until 8th October, to make a forecast of expenditure we want to achieve in those various items by the end of the year and we are informed about the date set for the end of the

year. I leave at midday take the trolley bus 4 and the bus 2F to go home for lunch. I lay the table for me and my daughter and I heat the food in the microwave. I take a bag of packaging paper and put it in the eco point. I take the bus 5 and the trolley bus 103 and at 2h00 pm I am again in my job. The afternoon is not very busy. I phone the Leader of Financial Services to ask for explanations to prepare a report for collective alteration for the guarantees’ rectification. While entering Ebanking a colleague keyed in the numbers of the card Shade badly, wich was blocked, it was necessary to phone to Lisbon to the Caixa Geral de Depósitos, to speak with the manager of the counts of the Police, to do to him the register again and send him fax. My daughter phones me to inform that there was an alteration in the traineeship time-table and for this reason she will arrive home later. I ckeck bills, stamps, take photocopies, give out requests to suppliers, launch the respective bills in the program TO the 400 signed and check the guides of documents expenses. I do orders of gas and coal and I attend suppliers and sellers who come to present their products. I check the bills sent to the treasury, requests and maps of budgetary control on the Administrative Advice e-mail. I correct the discriminative register of balances, see the e-mail and at 6h00 pm I go out. I walk up to Praça da República, thing that I do daily. I load the pass and go to the multibank to pay the fees of one of my daughters and transfer money to the count of the other. On the return home I catch the bus 30, go to the bakery and by some bread. I reach home, make some arrangements and begin to cook dinner. When my wife, arrives she finishes it. Finally, we all have dinner. For us this meal is like a ritual because it’s the only meal we have together. We talk about the traineeship of one of my daughters and the school of the other, our work and even the news of the day. When the meal ends I help my wife to put the kitchen in order, and then we watch some TV, what does not happen always. At 11h00 pm I set the clock for the next day and I go to sleep. My day is almost always like this, but there are some days that I have to spend the night at my job and because of that my day only ends in the next morning.
