This dog is never to be used for breeding and is to be spayed/neutered as soon as possible, and no later than one (1) year of age. All pet pups are sold on a limited registration as recognized by the American Kennel Club (A.K.C.) and are never, under any circumstance, to be used for breeding. Any puppies resulting from any and all breedings, accidental or planned, will not be eligible for registration by the A.K.C. This pup is guaranteed to be in good health with all current age appropriate inoculations and parasite free. This pup is guaranteed against any life threatening genetic disorders including, but not limited to crippling hip dysplasia, until the age of thirty (30) months to be replaced by a pet pup of equal value. This dog must be taken to a licensed veterinarian within seven (7) days to validate the health guarantee. After seven (7) days no refund will be given for any reason. A.K.C. registration papers will be supplied no sooner than twelve (12) months of age after certificate of spay or neuter is received by breeder. Health record is supplied as Attachment 1 of this contract. Attachment 2 is a Health Certificate issued and signed by a licensed veterinarian. Attachment 3 is a Pedigree for pup of at least three (3) generations. A. PHYSICAL CARE & NEEDS: Obligation as Buyer (Owner) of this pup is as follows: This pup is to be kept solely as a normal indoor household pet and family companion and is to be spayed/neutered as soon as possible or by no later than one (1) year of age. In addition, this pup is: 1. to be kept in safe secure fenced surroundings and never allowed to roam free; 2. never to be tied or tethered in any fashion or to spend excessive time isolated from the family in garage, basement or similar situation; 3. not be kept excessively crated (excessive being more than a total of ten (10) hours in a 24 hour period; 4. To be exercised regularly and properly; 5. To be given normal/routine veterinarian care on a regularly schedule basis, fed a healthy normal diet and kept at a normal weight; 6. Be given frequent and regular full grooming as required (minimum of three times a year).
7. After care of cropped ears to be started immediately. Your pup’s ears will come to you in posts. It is your duty to learn proper posting techniques or find a professional in your area to do so. B. BASIC TRAINING, BEHAVIOR, MANNERS: Owner is obligated to properly train and socialize this dog to become a proud member of the human and canine community as follows: 1. As soon as pup is taken home, crate training and housebreaking is to be initiated. Dog is to be confined quietly for short to eventually extended period of time without becoming frantic. 2. Puppy kindergarten and socialization classes should be started immediately to be followed by basic obedience commands to be taught as early as possible (sit, down, stay, come) with the help of an experienced professional trainer using humane methods in a classroom with other dogs present. This will teach dog to behave well even with distractions present. 3. Excessive, annoying barking is not to be tolerated; this pup must be taught the command “Quiet”. (Nuisance barking is one of the primary reasons dogs are put up for adoption, primarily because of neighbors’ complaints). 4. Owner must notify Breeder as early as possible if any behavioral problems begin to develop. C. RELINQUISHING OR FORFEITING THE DOG/DOG TO BE GIVEN UP FOR ADOPTION This dog is never to be transferred, sold or given away to any other party. The dog must be returned only to the breeder forfeiting the cost of the dog. If, for any reason this pup must be relinquished from Owner’s possession, Breeder must be notified immediately in order to prevent any further crisis situations from developing. Breeder retains the first right to repossess the dog and to place it in a new home situation or work in a concerted effort with the Owner to place the dog in an approved home in accordance with the same guidelines as in this contract. Any and all forfeitures will be at no cost to Breeder. Breeder exercises the right to collect a rehoming fee in this event. Owner is responsible for any cost of transporting dog back to Breeder. Any expenses incurred by returning the dog to Breeder including, but not limited to boarding, veterinary care, rehabilitation due to neglect and lack of training, obedience training and grooming shall be paid by Owner at time of forfeiture of animal.
