Road Show 2010

Fact Sheet The Indian economy is thriving. The country is benefiting from a highly educated workforce - knowledgeable, techsavvy, largely English-speaking. The urban population is enjoying new opportunities, higher incomes and more sophisticated pursuits. Multi-National Companies and foreign investors are increasingly drawn to India. Even Indian nationals who emigrated earlier for better career prospects are returning to participate in the country’s growth. India is rising. And, in many economists’ view, India’s growth will be sustained. The Indian government has demonstrated its commitment to liberalization and engagement, allowing private capital a bigger play and opening its markets to foreign competition. High priority has also been accorded to infrastructure development - in highways, ports, railways, airports, power, telecommunication, etc. Today, India is the fourth largest economy in the world based on purchasing power parity. GDP growth averaged 8-9% annually in the past four years. By 2020, India will jump to become the 10th biggest trading nation in the world (from 24th in 2005), according to the Economic Intelligence Unit in its Foresight 2020 Study. McKinsey Global Institute analyses that if India continues on its high growth path, income levels will almost triple and India will climb from the world’s 12th to become the 5th largest consumer market by 2025. India has shown its intent and capabilities, unleashing a swelling tide of economic power. Led by a new breed of business technocrats, the Indian market is bracing itself for new technologies, especially in information communication including audio visual systems, to meet new challenges and changing consumption demands.

Why India? • GDP growth averaging 8.5% pa in the past few years.

• 4th largest economy in the world based on purchasing power parity.

• Imports in 2006-07 grew by 21.5% and exports by 20.9%.

Audio Visual Industry

A High Growth Sector In India India is the largest film producer in the world. Yet screen penetration in India is 12 screens for every 1 million people versus 117 in the USA (as at 2005, www.wildblueskies.com). With rising incomes, growing sophistication and a relaxation in official policies to allow the screening of foreign films, the potential for digital screen installations is tremendous. Likewise for digital signage. Indian retail malls are just beginning to awaken to the potential of screen advertising revenue in addition to rental incomes. As reported by aka.tv, local and global agencies are taking an increasing interest in the market. Beyond retail malls, these agencies are eyeing screen installations in buses, trains, airports and even on flyovers! Times OOH is reportedly operating a massive plasma screen on the Delhi-Noida Direct flyover (www.aka.tv/articles/). In addition to large screens and projection systems, demand for command and control, video and collaborative conferencing and home entertainment systems will grow in tandem with infrastructural development. Local channel distributors are already actively working the market. It is timely for major players to step in and expose the market to advancements in ProAV technology and claim a position in
