India is my COUNTRY better than WHISKEY.

When I was a teenager i used to often see a board outside a students hostel every time I passed by that place. It said "India is my Country better than Whiskey", I was so fascinated and inspired by that board. I made some friends with the students at the same hostel and I soon discovered how clever they were in their studies, how inspired they were on their own, how hardworking they were. Some of them didn’t have money to pay their fees and that’s why they would do various part time jobs. I also learnt that they knew how to cherish their lives, how to take care of the environment, how to respect elders, how to be self-reliant. So may things to write but as I summarize i saw great deal of discipline and character in those students. They were so ambitious that they never compromised with their academic/sports activities. Today when i return to India after so many years and i see all together a different picture. A picture that i never dreamt about, a picture that sends chills down my spine, thinking what’s the future of India going to be. In our hometown there were three Fitness Centre’s, sports clubs which have now converted to Pubs & Bars. Now i do workouts in my own house garden. There was a park opposite to my house which is totally deserted and i find only Dogs playing around there and no more school kids or teenagers. I find school kids whisking away from school and changing from the school uniforms to mufti clothes just to have some quality time at the nearby movie theatre and pub. Apparently, mostly they are teen couples or girls. The innocence of the kids has lost, the evil in their minds have entered. I come across so many parents who can’t stop complaining about their kid’s indiscipline and lack of respect towards them. Parents are unable to control their kids any longer, they know the best solution - coaching classes, tuitions etc., and apparently parents are not responsible enough to deal with the kids as they send them away from home in the name of tuitions, classes and trainings. What teaching can be imparted to kids if it’s not going to come from their own parents? The looser on the timings and schedules of the kids the parents are giving more time to the kids to get mixed up in the society with all the anti-social elements. Every night while i walk my dogs on the streets, I find young boys and girls on a dating sphere or pouring in the Bars, Pubs and Discos or coming out totally out of control and drunk. I wonder if these

drunken kids do return home in this condition. To discuss with kids about future is vain as they easily get money from the earning member in the family to meet all the luxuries of life. Subsequently I see moreover kids have become physically weak and most of them look tired. The charm and innocence from their faces have disappeared. The same kids in order to fulfill their drugs, alcohol or sex needs start to steal people from the streets; mind you, these kids are most from the middle class and lower middle class families. The entire society is tearing apart with inclusion of so many anti social elements like drugs, alcohol, prostitution, rape, failed system and weak administration. The direct impact is on the younger generation and the future of India. Now the present scene I see is “India is my country NOT BETTER THAN WHISKEY”
