Importance of 1st September…..

Haryana Tourism Day : 





It was on 1st September 1971 that Haryana Tourism Corporation came into existence. To celebrate this day, Cycle rally-cum-race is held from Chandigarh to Panchkula town. The day also marks on ”Pakwan Pratiyogita, Blood Donation camp and Run for Fun events. Musical evenings, Illumination and contest are organized at all complexes of Haryana Tourism. Haryana has many tourist complexes, motels and camping sites in landscaped gardens to promote tourism which are named after Birds found in Haryana.

LIC & IOC was Established……. Two big Giants were founded on this day… 



1956: Life insurance corporation of India was established and all life insurance business companies were nationalized and merged in this corporation. Headquartered in Mumbai, LIC currently has 8 zonal offices and 101 divisional offices located in different parts of India. 1964: Indian oil corporation was founded on 1 sep 1964.

1581: ‘Chalana’ Diwas of Guru Ram Dass….. 

Guru Ram Das was the fourth of the Ten Gurus of Sikhism, and he became Guru following in the footsteps of his father in law Guru Amar Das.



His father was Hari Das and mother Anup Devi. His wife was Bibi Bhani, the younger daughter of Guru Amar Das, the third guru of the Sikhs. They had three sons: Prithi Chand, Mahadev and Arjan Dev.



As a Guru One of his main contributions to Sikhism was organizing the structure of Sikh society. Additionally, he was the author of Laava, the hymns of the Marriage Rites, the designer of the Harmandir Sahib, and the planner and creator of the township of Ramdaspur (later Amritsar).



A hymn by Guru Ram Das from page 305 of the Guru Granth Sahib: “One who calls himself a Sikh of the True Guru shall get up early morning and meditate on the Lord's Name. Make effort regularly to cleanse, bathe & dip in the ambrosial pool. Upon Guru's instructions, chant Har, Har singing which, all misdeeds, sins and pains shall go away.”





Guru Ram Das nominated Guru Arjan Dev, his youngest son, as the next Guru of the Sikhs.

1896: Acharya Prabhupad was born… 

He was the founder of the International Society of Krishna Consciousness, known worldwide as the Hare Krishna Movement.



In 1965, Swami Prabhupada set sail for America, with only eight dollars and a box of books, he was fulfilling the instruction he had received to spread Vedic teachings throughout the Western world. He founded the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) in New York City in 1966.



ISKCON spread the practice of bhakti yoga (devotion to God) in which devotees (bhaktas) dedicate their thoughts and actions towards pleasing the Supreme Lord, Krishna. ISKCON is now a worldwide confederation of more than four hundred centres, sixty farm communities, fifty schools and ninety restaurants …
