IMPACT OF UZHAVAR SANDHAI ON LIVELIHOOD EMPOWERMENT OF FARMERS k. Indumathy, r. Rajasekaran and n. Suganthi November, 2016 In this paper, A research was conducted to assess the effects of Uzhavarsandhai on the livelihood of farmers in the district of Vellore. Out of 7, 4 Uzhavarsandhai were selected based on convenience sampling technique. Responses were collected from totally 90 respondents. The primary objective of this research is to study the socio personal characteristics, Decision alternatives and the impact of Uzhavarsandhai on the lives of farmers Data were collected and the variables were analysed by using SPSS Software. Majority of the farmers belong to middle age category and were marginal farmers holding the land size upto 2.5 acres. 50.00% farmers were attending the market from the year 2000 onwards.75.00 per cent of the respondent’s primary occupation was farming. 73.00 % of the respondents were having moderate accessibility with the Uzhavarsandhai. The major impact of Uzhavarsandhai on the farmers’ livelihood is that the purchasing power is increasing and there is also increased investment
