BIOPIC Zafar U. Ahmed is a Tenured Full Professor of Marketing, and International Business at Texas A&M University at Commerce, Texas, USA. He is currently serving as the Founder, President and CEO: Academy for Global Business Advancement (AGBA), Founder, and Editor-in-Chief: Journal for Global Business Advancement, and Founder and Editor-in-Chief: Journal for International Business and Entrepreneurship Development. Zafar earned his BBA in International Business from the University of the State of New York’s Regents College at Albany, New York; an MBA in International Business from Texas A&M International University, Laredo Texas, and a Ph.D. with specialization in “Branding/Image” from Utah State University. He has attended faculty and executive development programs in marketing and international business at the Cornell, Yale, Duke, Northwestern, Thunderbird, South Carolina, Southern Methodist, and Indiana universities. He was awarded the degree of Doctor of Literature (D. Litt.) in Commerce in recognition of his 53 scholarly publications in Strategic Services Marketing (Commerce) by the A. M. University, India, in 1997. Zafar has been a Visiting Professor to the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa and the University of Science Malaysia. Zafar’s research and guest lecturing have also been conducted in many countries such as South Korea, Australia, Russia, Turkey, Netherlands, UK, Nepal, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Finland, Canada, Mexico, Nigeria, Rwanda, Japan, Malaysia, Kuwait, Indonesia, Moldova, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, India, Vietnam, and Cyprus. Zafar’s 18-year full-time academic experience has been accumulated at Texas A&M University at Commerce (Texas), Fort Hays State University (Kansas), Sacred Heart University (Connecticut), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Minot State University (North Dakota), and the State University of New York at Fredonia (New York). Zafar’s industry experience in the field of international entrepreneurship and global business includes a 10-year distinguished career, ranging from a management trainee to a global entrepreneur and finally to CEO and President of two global firms: (Bangalore International Co. Pvt. Ltd., and Sokoto International Trading Co. Pvt. Ltd.). Zafar is the author/co-author of five case books, has co-edited 12 refereed conference proceedings of international conferences, has chaired 7 global conferences, has published more than 100 scholarly papers in refereed journals, and books, serves on the editorial boards of four international journals, and has guest edited special issues of four international journals. Zafar has held administrative responsibilities such as Directorship of the Institute for International Business at Minot State University (MSU) in North Dakota. He has provided leadership in developing a four-year degree program in International Business and a Master's program in Management at the MSU. Zafar’s major grant-related activities have included being the three-time recipient of Title VI grants from the US Department of Education, and his appointment by the U S Department of Defense to act as a Federal Reviewer to evaluate the applications of educational institutions seeking federal funding to establish international business programs. Zafar has consulted for numerous organizations across the world such as the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the United Nations Development Program, the Japan International Development Agency, the British Commonwealth Secretariat, University of Michigan Center for Executive Education, many governmental organizations across Africa and Asia, and numerous MNCs operating across Africa and Southeast Asia. Zafar is listed in the “Harvard International Directory of Business and Management Scholars”.
