I have been active as a full-time music instructor since 2004, specialising in the teaching of Contemporary Piano styles (Jazz, Pop, Gospel, Rock) and various Guitar styles (Classical, Pop, Rock, Jazz, Fingerstyle). In the past decade, I have enrolled many students for Music Examinations via Trinity Guildhall and Rockschool. In addition, I also teach some students music composition /orchestration and music production. My objective in teaching music is not only to cater to the present musical needs of the students but more so to instil a deep love for music that will remain with them for a lifetime. Being able to appreciate and play various genres of music is certainly very rewarding. As such, learning to play a musical instrument is an amazing way to achieve balance in one’s life. Among the teachers who have made a lasting impact on my philosophy of music include the legendary Jazz Vibraphonist from Berklee Music, Gary Burton (from whom I studied Jazz Improvisation and graduated with a Distinction) and one of the most well-known Jazz pianists in Malaysia, Willy Rebano.
