Lord KRISHNA is one of the most loved and revered Gods in hindu religion.
He is regarded as the eighth incarnation of lord Vishnu born as human in “dwapar yuga”.
The word “KRISHNA” means “ONE WHO IS ALWAYS THE TRANSPORT OF JOY”.
Lord Krishna appeared over five thousand years ago in Mathura, India, to Devaki and Vasudeva in the jail cell of the tyrant kamsa. Lord Krishna appeared on the midnight of the 8th day of the dark half of the month of Sravana
KRISHNA also known as “BAL GOPAL” , was a very famous and fearless child. His childhood has a number of stories that prove him to be very brave and also reveal his spiritual and divine powers. Most important among them are killing of the demoness Putna. Slaying of KAALIYA naag. KRISHNA is regarded as “SOLAH KALA SAMPOORNA” & “POORNA PURUSHOTTAMA”
KRISHNA
led a very pampered and amorous life in the gokul.
Thousands of gopikaas, the
cowherdesses who were all entralled at his beauty and were thrilled whenever he played his flute.
Among
all the gopikaas ,RADHA was special to KRISHNA.
Lord Krishna is said to have
resided in the city of DWARKA made by vishkarma with as many as 16,000 wives.
Legend has it when LORD
KRISHNA killed demon NARDA, he married the single girls of the entire village to save their honour.
The mistress of the house
was however RUKAMANI. He had 1,61,080 sons.
“Karmanye vadhikaraste maa
faleshu kadachana”.
Means “Karam kar fal ki chanta
mat kar”.
“Yada yada hi dharmasya
glanir bhavti bharata, abhuththanam adharmasya tadatmanam srijamyaham”. Means “Hey Arjun jab jab
dharam ki haani hogi aur adharam ka prabalya hoga main is dharti par avataar lunga”.
“Paritranay saadhunam
vinashay ch dushkritam, dharamsansthapnartaya sambhavami yuge yuge”.
Means “ bhakton ka uddhar
karne aur dushton ka vinaash karne tha dharam ki stapna karne k liye main ha yug mein avtar leta hoon.”
The Four Kinds of Actions: KAMYA KARMA:- Actions performed for
selfish gains.
NISHIDDHA KARMA:- Actions that are
forbidden by holy texts and scriptures.
NITYA KARMA:- Action that must be
performed daily and
NIMITTIKA
KARMA:- Actions that must be performed on certain special occasions.
LORD
KRISHNA clearly forbade his devotees to perform first two kind of karmas as they lead to rebirth and laid stress on the performance of the latter two as they help in getting the MOKSHA or NIRVANA in other words ,SALVATION.
Liberation and Bondage: LORD KRISHNA emphasized on being free
from all kinds of negative and positive emotions like sorrow,joy, happiness, jealousy as they are illusions or MAYA.
Glory of Satsanga: LORD KRISHNA described SATSANGA as
the fastest means to be closer to him and please him.
Importance of meditation: LORD KRISHNA emphsaizes on the
benefits of meditation. It is a means of introspection, looking inside onself, being close to GOD and removing oneself from the materialistic world.
Path to Long Lived Happiness: LORD KRISHNA describes, KARMA(action),
knowledge and BHAKTI(devotion) as the three fold ways to please him. This is sure short way to achieve happiness and MOKSHA
According to researchers ,LORD
KRISHNA disappeared on 18th February 3102 B.C. The period after his disappearance marks the beginning of kalyuga. It is said that LORD KRISHNA had predicted that exactly 7 days after the disappearance of the LORD, the GOLDEN CITY OF DWARKA will drown in the sea.
Lord KRISHNA went to forest near
Somnath in Bhalka tirth to meditate . JARA, a hunter mistook the lord’s feet to be a deer and accidently shot him with his arrow. LORD KRISHNA’s spirit left for heaven. The great sage VAYASA then wrote the famous “BHAGWAD PURANA “ to save the heritage and miracles of LORD KRISHNA.
