Christians are also marked with a seal: “It is God who establishes us with you in Christ and has commissioned us: He has put His seal on us and give us His Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” This seal of the Holy Spirit marks our total belonging to Christ, our enrollment in his service for ever, as well as the promise of divine protection in the great eschatological trial.”(CCC, 1296)

Yes! Through the Sacrament of Confirmation I am inducted as a soldier of Christ’s Army. A kind of “swearing in” you might say. Back in the day when I received this sacrament, after the bishop blessed me with the Oil of Chrism and marked me with the Seal of the Holy Spirit, I am given a little slap on my cheek to represent my willingness to “take one” for God, and wake my spirit to defend my faith and defend Christ, as a Sealed person I am always called to defend Christ but also to serve my fellow men. I feel that it really put the question, “Are you willing to die for Him?” to the forefront of my mind. I knew exactly what I am accepting when I agreed to Confirmation. I these I confirmed that I really want to die for Him. As a Catholic Christian I know that the Holy Spirit is with me, as well as an Army of Hevenly Angels and Saints there to call on for backup along in my Confirmation saint who’s “got my back”. I am given 7 gifts of the Holy Spirit and Confirmation to arm me for the battle. And now, I can use them through the Spiritual and Corporal works of Mercy. These are works of Charity, of Love. For Jesus Truly says to us that if we did it to one of the least of these my brethren, we did it to him. (Mt. 25:35-36,40) Let the Spirit always come to me and make me strong in Following the way of Christ. Come Holy Spirit! Fill the heart of Thy faithful. Enkindle in them the fire of Your Love!
