The Hmong Youth Leadership Olympics will be unique in many ways. First, teams will be composed of youths between the ages of 11-17. Thus, youths of different ages will be forced to interact with one another in these teams. They will have to learn how to communicate and listen to one another in order to work together. Second, it will give college students the opportunity to be mentors. College students will be able to serve as strong, positive role models for the youth to look to for guidance and support. Third, it will be an enriching event for everyone involved. HSIC hopes to achieve three main objectives through this event. These objectives are leadership development, empowerment, and mentorship.
