Africa Africa The continent with shape as a handgun Facing down the sea As if her problem is with the sea Africa The continent with shape as a handgun The fields of oilLibya and Nigeria The barrel and the trigger The land of gold and diamondSouth Africa The outlet Africa Why you face down the sea I know not You touch AsiaThe direction of terrorism In Egypt You touch EuropeThe direction of colonialism In Morocco But your direction of attack Was down the sea.... An Acrostic-Abraham Lincoln All across our nations; all without exemption Brothers oppress one another right within our borders Right of men were denied and justice is delayed Africans have lost the sense of liberty plus that of unity History is recording another form of slavery; among men with the same history All because of selfishness, greediness, and the desire to grasp all Mother Africa laments seeing her children live as forces from opposite realm Life is lived with no regards for the life of men Insecurity has become our national identity Next to insecurity is inequity couple with unequal access to the wealth our nation Common wealth with no common access Oh mother Africa, where will your salvation come from? Lamentation never proffers the needed solution No one except the Creator can restore sanity within our nations

Help From Above Because no one is here to help He came by Himself, to get the job done Abandoned the place of glory To redeem the souls in the pit of shame He lived where we lived He was not in a hurry to get the job done Abandoned Himself in the same place He found us Thirty and three years He was not ashamed to identify with our shame He was cursed that we might be blessed He went to the cross just to get the job done Abandoned in the pit of shame, but rose the third day And brought redemption and honour to the people doomed for shame (June2006 Porto Novo Benin Republic) Cephas Rotimi Oluwaseyitan

I Can't Stop Praising Him There may be no sun in my sky I will still praise Him There may be no fruit on my tree I will still praise Him There may be no fish in my ocean I will still praise Him There may be no game in my forest I will still praise Him There may be no food on my table I will still praise Him There may be no money in my pocket

I will still praise Him With all of my breath and all of my strength I will still praise Him If He does nothing again, I can’t stop praising Him For all He has done before (May2006 Porto Novo Benin Republic) Cephas Rotimi Oluwaseyitan

Logical Ratio God gave me two eyes Both He put in the front My destiny and dream ahead All within my focus Whenever I talk to Him Reminding Him of the past All He does, is to show me The things ahead of me Looking back He discourages The very reason He put both eyes Right in front of me Two ears He gave me Each at either side of my head Facts and figures to pick Detail and data to collect Just within my reach As I move ahead on the path of destiny The very reason He put both ears Each at either side of my head But the neck He made to turn In case I need to observe All that comes to my hearing Hearing the now seeing the future These explained the reason for the position That of my eyes and my ears Two eyes, two ears but one mouth To see twice as much as I hear To hear twice as much as I see Yet talk less, of what I see and hear The reason for one mouth, two eyes and two ears January2000 Cotonou Benin Republic Cephas Rotimi Oluwaseyitan

A world that is far separated from reality Located outside the familiar territory of truth Lost in the helpless terrain of deceit; Grace appeared to me, along with salvation He met me with illumination on the path of illusion This calls for celebration for my soul is liberated Like a fish that escapes from the hook of a fisherman I created a ripple in the ocean of liberty For a sudden change of location A kingdom which foundation was laid on truth, And her subjects are kings and priests (June2006 Porto Novo Benin Republic) Cephas Rotimi Oluwaseyitan

Marriage Engagement I was of age before I got engaged All I bargained for... A marriage not a cage A home not a dome Love not a glove A friend not a foe An ally no an adversary A companion not a competitor A help-mate not a hell-mate I longed for a garden of Eden... with peace, love, harmony and the wisdom... To deal with 'the Serpent' and all its tricks and trap My Children around me, my spouse beside me To live and serve God altogether (November2006 Porto Novo) Cephas Rotimi Oluwaseyitan

Marriage Manual Marriage An idea divine, designed…..imported Profit……and benefit intended Affection, procreation, benediction expected Platform to extend and expand…. The goodness, kindness and the righteousness Of Him who designed and also assigned Wisdom to enjoy the same: to all the creation Marriage Experience has taught many otherwise Opposite has been the case….. Shattered, battered and marred Marriage Many have tasted the bitter side of it Many that found themselves inside Wished they were not married Many that are outside Look with great admiration Towards exploiting it benefit and profit Marriage What is the problem? Many got the product, but neglected the manual Problem reminded many that they are not … Fully prepared….. Yet it is too late To enjoy the profit and benefit intended for marriage (Porto Novo Benin 09 November 2006) Cephas Rotimi Oluwaseyitan

The Irony Of Life Life is unfair to me He lamented I put in my best but guess what I get He complained Certain man put in so little but got so much He grumbled He looked at me waiting for an answer ‘Life gives to you what you demand not what you deserve’ (May2006 Benin Republic) Cephas Rotimi Oluwaseyitan

Eyes wide opened because sleep felt despised that the issue is preferred As the thought continued to grow in my heart The cock crowed and put me on the alert The day longed waited for has arrived May2006 Porto Novo Benin Republic Cephas Rotimi Oluwaseyitan

The Ordeal Of A Young Poet When it comes to writing, I am so slow That a snail is better in speed than I am I spend all the day struggling. Rolling and strolling over the first line I know what to write but how to start A path so narrow, so narrow That I sometimes do not feel like following. Dragging and nagging all the way from the start. And when I manage to put down my thought Just as it begins to flow Like a sap from a slit tree in the winter. Dropping and dripping all the way to the end. You can pick from the first statement Because it is always so shallow But I have decided to keep at it Growing and flowing like the Amazon River (May2006 Porto Novo Republic of Benin) Cephas Rotimi Oluwaseyitan

The Rain Colorless, multiple, miracle pieces of thread, dropping down from a dark black cloud; with a melodious touch on the roofs of men's dwelling. Instantly turning into a flowing water as it kisses the earth, useless for sewing but useful for washing the dirt of men and watering their seed sown. To the first child belongs the double portion An inheritance bequeathed by the father And the rest for others Days preceding his father’s departure He comes home hungry and weary The need demands an immediate solution Just at the gate of the house He was welcomed by the sweet aroma. Of a well prepared potage Unknown to him, it was a stage. Set to bargain for his heritage It was so tempting and appealing Salivating, he demands for a portion But the price is so high He could not paid with the current currency Except with the futures’-“the birthright” Without a second thought He exchanged his heritage for a pot of potage The future was consumed Under the pressure of the moment He did not know the gravity of his error Until his father departed And the heritage was transferred To the one that prepared the potage (June2006 Porto Novo Benin Republic) Cephas Rotimi Oluwaseyitan

The State Of Nation We live in a nation characterised with insecurity Where peace is a scarce commodity We leave every day in uncertainty We know not whether it will last for eternity We crave every moment for serenity Who knows whether this is a possibility? We live in a nation characterised with corruption Where honesty is not an option We leave everyday in deception We know not whether it will last for a session We crave every moment for rectification Who knows whether this will come in our dispensation? Time and Life Life and time Friends in a race Running together... At different pace Boundary of eternity There, they face Time awaits the birth of life… Pushed out with the very last of strength Crying without a dropp of tears Hands, legs and lips Shaking, in a stream of blood Rising to catch up with time Aaaaaaaa… Is all he could say Seeing time is set to go Aaaaaaaa.. Is all he could say… Demanding If time could wait All the same.. The stage is set… Tick, tick, tick Time is going... Cephas Rotimi Oluwaseyitan Cephas Rotimi Oluwaseyitan

To The Praise Of The Creator Inventions are discoveries Nothing is new on the face of the earth What we are seeing today; amazing as they may be Are what have always been since creation We are only making discoveries of things hidden for us By the Creator of all things The glory therefore must go To the Creator not to the inventors (June2006 Porto Novo Benin Republic) Cephas Rotimi Oluwaseyitan

To eat, drink, and merry all the day When the pleasure of iniquity Ridiculously makes meaning.. Than the treasure of tomorrow When I deny, only what hinders... The excitement of the now To maintain, sustain, and retain My current enjoyment When I exaggerate my need And deliberately underrate yours To manipulate the moment When the realm of the moment Is all I see And picture outside this realm looks blur to me When I have a choice.. Purpose and pleasure And pleasure overwhelmed my choice While, purpose is sacrificed on the altar of pleasure.. I go anywhere And come anytime I sleep anytime And wake anytime I speak any how And mind not who got hurt Who am I? Cephas Rotimi Oluwaseyitan September 2007 Cephas Rotimi Oluwaseyitan

A Wounded Heart Wound! A wound upon my heart An arrow of words, Shot from the bow of an uncultured lips Straight into my heart it goes Deep and deep it goes Throbbing and thumping Who will heal my wound?
