There are many different types of design that goes into any house. In this project you will design a house. The rooms that you need to include into your design are the following: 2 Bedrooms, a Kitchen, a Bathroom, and Living Room. When you design a house there are two major parts to the design, the structure itself, and also the interior design of the structure. Where you create the “look” of a room by picking the paint, furniture, lighting, flooring, etc. To design the structure of a 2000 sq. ft house, and designing the interior for one room of the house. The steps for this project are the following: o 1 Floor Plan (Top View) Sketch ~ This should include furniture placement, basic electrical system (switches, electrical sockets, and lighting fixtures), appliance placement, wall placement, door placement, landscaping (optional) etc. in ¼” = 1’ (or architectural scale)The overall size (or square footage of the house must equal 2000 Sq. Ft. otherwise your design will not meet the requirements. To figure out square footage the formula is: Area = length X Width Some hints that you may want to take into consideration are the following: o Make sure there is enough space between pieces of furniture that you wish people to walk between (gaps between furniture should be at least 1’6”) o Make sure there is a door to get in and out of the rooms o Make sure that the doors are standard size (3’) o All walls are assumed to be 6” (half a graphing paper square or 1/8”)
