Holy Writings In the bible the Greek word “graphe” points to an older writing, and not to the New Testament. Strong's Number: 1124 Transliterated: graphe Phonetic: graf-ay' Text: a document, i.e. holy Writ (or its contents or a statement in it): --scripture. This is the word used in all these references. -- Young's Bible Matthew 21:42 Jesus saith to them, 'Did ye never read in the Writings, A stone that the builders disallowed, it became head of a corner; from the Lord hath this come to pass, and it is wonderful in our eyes. Matthew 22:29 And Jesus answering said to them, 'Ye go astray, not knowing the Writings, nor the power of God; Matthew 26:54 how then may the Writings be fulfilled, that thus it behoveth to happen?' Matthew 26:56 but all this hath come to pass, that the Writings of the prophets may be fulfilled;' then all the disciples, having left him, fled. Mark 12:10 And this Writing did ye not read: A stone that the builders rejected, it did become the head of a corner: Mark 12:24 And Jesus answering said to them, 'Do ye not because of this go astray, not knowing the Writings, nor the power of God? Mark 14:49 daily I was with you in the temple teaching, and ye did not lay hold on me - but that the Writings may be fulfilled.' Mark 15:28 and the Writing was fulfilled that is saying, 'And with lawless ones he was numbered.' Luke 4:21 And he began to say unto them - 'To-day hath this writing been fulfilled in your ears;' Luke 24:27 and having begun from Moses, and from all the prophets, he was expounding to them in all the Writings the things about himself. Luke 24:32 And they said one to another, 'Was not our heart burning within us, as he was speaking to us in the way, and as he was opening up to us the Writings?' Luke 24:45 Then opened he up their understanding to understand the Writings, John 2:22 when, then, he was raised out of the dead, his disciples remembered that he said this to them, and they believed the Writing, and the word that Jesus said. John 5:39 'Ye search the Writings, because ye think in them to have life age-during, and these are they that are testifying concerning me; John 7:38 he who is believing in me, according as the Writing said, Rivers out of his belly shall flow of living water;' John 7:42 Did not the Writing say, that out of the seed of David, and from Bethlehem - the village where David was the Christ doth come?' John 10:35 if them he did call gods unto whom the word of God came, (and the Writing is not able to be broken,) John 13:18 not concerning you all do I speak; I have known whom I chose for myself; but that the Writing may be fulfilled: He who is eating the bread with me, did lift up against me his heel. John 17:12 when I was with them in the world, I was keeping them in Thy name; those whom Thou hast given to me I did guard, and none of them was destroyed, except the son of the destruction, that the Writing may be fulfilled. John 19:24 they said, therefore, to one another, 'We may not rend it, but cast a lot for it, whose it shall be;' that the Writing might be fulfilled, that is saying, 'They divided my garments to themselves, and upon my raiment they did cast a lot;' the soldiers, therefore, indeed, did these things. John 19:28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things now have been finished, that the Writing may be fulfilled, saith, 'I thirst;' John 19:36 For these things came to pass, that the Writing may be fulfilled, 'A bone of him shall not be broken;' John 19:37 and again another Writing saith, 'They shall look to him whom they did pierce.' John 20:9 for not yet did they know the Writing, that it behoveth him out of the dead to rise again. Acts 1:16 'Men, brethren, it behoved this Writing that it be fulfilled that beforehand the Holy Spirit spake through the mouth of David, concerning Judas, who became guide to those who took Jesus, Acts 8:32 And the contents of the Writing that he was reading was this: 'As a sheep unto slaughter he was led, and as a lamb before his shearer dumb, so he doth not open his mouth; Acts 8:35 and Philip having opened his mouth, and having begun from this Writing, proclaimed good news to him Jesus.

Acts 17:2 and according to the custom of Paul, he went in unto them, and for three sabbaths he was reasoning with them from the Writings, Acts 17:11 and these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, they received the word with all readiness of mind, every day examining the Writings whether those things were so; Acts 18:24 And a certain Jew, Apollos by name, an Alexandrian by birth, a man of eloquence, being mighty in the Writings, came to Ephesus, Acts 18:28 for powerfully the Jews he was refuting publicly, shewing through the Writings Jesus to be the Christ. Romans 1:2 which He announced before through His prophets in holy writings – Romans 4:3 for what doth the writing say? 'And Abraham did believe God, and it was reckoned to him - to righteousness;' Romans 9:17 for the Writing saith to Pharaoh - 'For this very thing I did raise thee up, that I might shew in thee My power, and that My name might be declared in all the land;' Romans 10:11 for the Writing saith, 'Every one who is believing on him shall not be ashamed,' Romans 11:2 God did not cast away His people whom He knew before; have ye not known - in Elijah - what the Writing saith? how he doth plead with God concerning Israel, saying, Romans 15:4 for, as many things as were written before, for our instruction were written before, that through the endurance, and the exhortation of the Writings, we might have the hope. Romans 16:26 and now having been made manifest, also, through prophetic writings, according to a command of the age-during God, having been made known to all the nations for obedience of faith – 1 Corinthians 15:3 for I delivered to you first, what also I did receive, that Christ died for our sins, according to the Writings, 1 Corinthians 15:4 and that he was buried, and that he hath risen on the third day, according to the Writings, Galatians 3:8 and the Writing having foreseen that by faith God doth declare righteous the nations did proclaim before the good news to Abraham – Galatians 3:22 but the Writing did shut up the whole under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ may be given to those believing. Galatians 4:30 but what saith the Writing? 'Cast forth the maid-servant and her son, for the son of the maid-servant may not be heir with the son of the free-woman;' 1 Timothy 5:18 for the Writing saith, 'An ox treading out thou shalt not muzzle,' and 'Worthy [is] the workman of his reward.' 2 Timothy 3:16 every Writing [is] God-breathed, and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for setting aright, for instruction that [is] in righteousness, James 2:8 If, indeed, royal law ye complete, according to the Writing, 'Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself,' - ye do well; James 2:23 and fulfilled was the Writing that is saying, 'And Abraham did believe God, and it was reckoned to him to righteousness;' and, 'Friend of God' he was called. James 4:5 Do ye think that emptily the Writing saith, 'To envy earnestly desireth the spirit that did dwell in us,' 1 Peter 2:6 Wherefore, also, it is contained in the Writing: 'Lo, I lay in Zion a chief corner-stone, choice, precious, and he who is believing on him may not be put to shame;' 2 Peter 1:20 this first knowing, that no prophecy of the Writing doth come of private exposition, 2 Peter 3:15 and the long-suffering of our Lord count ye salvation, according as also our beloved brother Paul according to the wisdom given to him - did write (1125 grapho) to you,16 as also in all the epistles (1992 epistole), speaking in them concerning these things, among which things are certain hard to be understood, which the untaught and unstable do wrest (4761 strebloo - to wrench, i.e. (specifically) to torture (by the rack), but only figuratively, to pervert), as also the other Writings (1124 graphe), unto their own destruction. Please look these up yourself; given that I only gave single verses to save space. The reason for quoting all these verses is to show that the New Testament writers were not calling their own writings “scripture”. This is a man made tradition which we follow. The bible, Old and New Testaments are sometimes called “The Holy Word of God”, “Scripture”, “Holy Bible” or any other name that sets it apart as holy and sanctified. Let me make a statement here; I am NOT anti-bible. I believe we should accept it for what it is. Is God’s Word infallible? It is if we are referring to Jesus as the Word. John 1: 1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God;

2. this one was in the beginning with God; 3. all things through him did happen, and without him happened not even one thing that hath happened. 4. In him was life, and the life was the light of men, 5. and the light in the darkness did shine, and the darkness did not perceive it. John 1:9. He was the true Light, which doth enlighten every man, coming to the world; 10. in the world he was, and the world through him was made, and the world did not know him: 11. to his own things he came, and his own people did not receive him; 12. but as many as did receive him to them he gave authority to become sons of God - to those believing in his name, 13. who - not of blood nor of a will of flesh, nor of a will of man but - of God were begotten. 14. And the Word became flesh, and did tabernacle among us, and we beheld his glory, glory as of an only begotten of a father, full of grace and truth. Is the bible infallible? No! The definition of infallible is: Adjective; 1 Incapable of erring: an infallible guide; an infallible source of information. 2 Incapable of failing; certain: an infallible antidote; an infallible rule. 3 Roman Catholic Church. Incapable of error in expounding doctrine on faith or morals. The bible is inert; it has no power or authority of its own. It does not Save or condemn, it is a representation of things said and done. The words recorded in it are absolutely relevant. Matthew 28:18 And having come near, Jesus spake to them, saying, 'Given to me was all authority in heaven and on earth; Mark 2:10 'And, that ye may know that the Son of Man hath authority on the earth to forgive sins Luke 5:24 'And that ye may know that the Son of Man hath authority upon the earth to forgive sins - (he said to the one struck with palsy) - I say to thee, Arise, and having taken up thy little couch, be going on to thy house.' Luke 9:1 And having called together his twelve disciples, he gave them power and authority over all the demons, and to cure sicknesses, Luke 10:19 lo, I give to you the authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and on all the power of the enemy, and nothing by any means shall hurt you; Luke 12:5 but I will show to you, whom ye may fear; Fear him who, after the killing, is having authority to cast to the gehenna; yes, I say to you, Fear ye Him. John 1:12 but as many as did receive him to them he gave authority to become sons of God - to those believing in his name, John 5: 24. 'Verily, verily, I say to you - He who is hearing my word, and is believing Him who sent me, hath life ageduring, and to judgment he doth not come, but hath passed out of the death to the life. 25. 'Verily, verily, I say to you - There cometh an hour, and it now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and those having heard shall live; 26. for, as the Father hath life in himself, so He gave also to the Son to have life in himself, 27. and authority He gave him also to do judgment, because he is Son of Man. John 10:11. 'I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd his life layeth down for the sheep; 12. and the hireling, and not being a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, doth behold the wolf coming, and doth leave the sheep, and doth flee; and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep; 13. and the hireling doth flee because he is an hireling, and is not caring for the sheep. 14. 'I am the good shepherd, and I know my [sheep], and am known by mine, 15. according as the Father doth know me, and I know the Father, and my life I lay down for the sheep, 16. and other sheep I have that are not of this fold, these also it behoveth me to bring, and my voice they will hear, and there shall become one flock - one shepherd. 17. 'Because of this doth the Father love me, because I lay down my life, that again I may take it; 18. no one doth take it from me, but I lay it down of myself; authority I have to lay it down, and authority I have again to take it; this command I received from my Father.'

Authority and power belong to God, and He dictates who can use it. As far as I can tell He never gave it to a book. The bible has historical facts, lists of laws and moral behavior, and my favorite, the Gospel. The bible is a tool; God can use it any way He pleases. Paul, the writer of many of the New Testament books, claims he received the Good New directly for God. Galatians 1:8 but even if we or a messenger out of heaven may proclaim good news to you different from what we did proclaim to you - anathema let him be! Galatians 1:11. And I make known to you, brethren, the good news that were proclaimed by me, that it is not according to man, 12. for neither did I from man receive it, nor was I taught [it], but through a revelation of Jesus Christ, John14: 22. Judas saith to him, (not the Iscariot), 'Sir, what hath come to pass, that to us thou are about to manifest thyself, and not to the world?' 23. Jesus answered and said to him, 'If any one may love me, my word he will keep, and my Father will love him, and unto him we will come, and abode with him we will make; 24. he who is not loving me, my words doth not keep; and the word that ye hear is not mine, but the Father's who sent me. 25. 'These things I have spoken to you, remaining with you, 26. and the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and remind you of all things that I said to you. John 16: 12. 'I have yet many things to say to you, but ye are not able to bear [them] now; 13. and when He may come - the Spirit of truth - He will guide you to all the truth, for He will not speak from Himself, but as many things as He will hear He will speak, and the coming things He will tell you; 14. He will glorify me, because of mine He will take, and will tell to you. 15. 'All things, as many as the Father hath, are mine; because of this I said, That of mine He will take, and will tell to you; 16. a little while, and ye do not behold me, and again a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go away unto the Father.' A mistake is made when people believe that the bible is sufficient as God’s Word, or even worse is when they worship the bible as if it were God. It contains some of God’s Words but it is not “The Word of God”. Remember what Jesus said; “the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and remind you of all things that I said to you”.
