Holy Week Schedule 2009

HOLY WEEK AND SACRED TRIDUUM ‘09 HOLY THURSDAY (April 9) MASS OF THE LORD’S SUPPER 7:30 p.m. (in the church) This beautiful liturgy, which commemorates the institution of the Holy Eucharist and the Ministerial Priesthood, includes the Washing of the Feet of 12 men who represent the apostles, Christ’s first priests. The Mass will be multi-lingual. At the close of the Mass, the priests take the Blessed Sacrament in solemn procession to the Altar of Repose where the faithful are invited to spend time in adoration until midnight. This year, the procession will wind its way through the streets in the immediate vicinity of the church and will end at the parish hall (behind the church) where the Altar of Repose will be erected.

GOOD FRIDAY (April 10) STATIONS OF THE CROSS AT THE ABORTION MILL 7am (2777 Long Beach Blvd.) Calvary was a place where the execution of countless criminals took place as well as the crucifixion of the Innocent Son of God. Abortion mills are modern Calvaries where the innocent unborn suffer and die. Let us pray for an end to abortion and make reparation for all the babies who have died and for their mothers and fathers whose souls are aching for God’s healing power.

GOOD FRIDAY LITURGY 12 noon (in the church) The Celebration of the Lord’s Passion consists of the Liturgy of the Word (and the reading of the Passion according to St. John); the Veneration of the Cross and Holy Communion. This liturgy will bilingual

LIVING STATIONS OF THE CROSS Two times: 3pm and 6pm The Stations of the Cross will be acted out, beginning at the church on the corner of 20th Street and Pasadena. We will then accompany Our Lord along his Via Dolorosa through the nearby streets of the parish. Returning to the church, we will witness the final Stations of the Cross, including the Crucifixion and Death of Our Lord.

PROCESSION WITH OUR MOTHER OF SORROWS 8:00 p.m. (starts at the church) This moving devotion to the Mother of Sorrows invites Christians who commemorate the Crucifixion and Death of the Lord to both console the Mother of Jesus who saw her innocent Son so cruelly treated and to draw strength from her intercession and example in our own sorrows and trials. Dressed in black or with black arm bands, the faithful will accompany an image of the Sorrowful Mother in a procession through the streets around the parish church.

HOLY SATURDAY (April 11) HOLY ROSARY AT THE ABORTION MILL SORROWFUL MYSTERIES 7 a.m. (2777 Long Beach Blvd.)

THE EASTER VIGIL 8:00 p.m. (at the church) Christ’s victory over sin and death by His own Death and Resurrection is celebrated in this most exquisite of the Church’s liturgies. This sacred liturgy includes the Blessing of the Easter Fire, the singing of the Exsultet, an extensive Liturgy of the Word, and the Baptism of new Christians. The Mass will be multi-lingual.

SEMANA SANTA Y SANTO TRIDUO ‘09 JUEVES SANTO (Abril 9) MISA DE LA ÚLTIMA CENA 7:30pm (en el templo) Esta hermosa liturgia, conmemora la institución de la Sagrada Eucaristía y el Sacerdocio Ministerial, incluyendo el Lavatorio de los pies de 12 hombres que representa los apóstoles, los primeros sacerdotes de Jesucristo. La Misa será multi-lingüe . Al terminar la Misa, el Santísimo Sacramento será llevado en solemne procesión al Altar del Reposo donde se les invita a los fieles a adorarle hasta la medianoche. Este año, la procesión se hará por las calles vecinas inmediatas a la iglesia y terminando en el salón parroquial (atrás de la iglesia) donde el Altar del Reposo será preparado.

VIERNES SANTO (Abril 10) ESTACIONES DE LA CRUZ EN FRENTE DEL CENTRO DE ABORTOS DE LONG BEACH 7am (2777 Long Beach Blvd.) El Calvario fue un lugar donde se llevó a cabo la ejecución de muchos criminales así como la crucifixión del Hijo Inocente de Dios. Los ‘abortuarios’ son modernos Calvarios donde inocentes que no han nacido sufren y mueren. Hagamos oración para poner un fin al aborto y para hacer reparación por todos esos bebés que han muerto y por las almas de sus mamás y papás que sufren y necesitan el poder curativo de Dios.

PESAME A LA VIRGEN 8:00 p.m. (en el templo) Esta conmovedora devoción a la Madre Dolorosa invita a los cristianos a consolar a la Madre de Jesucristo que vio a su Inocente Hijo tratado tan cruelmente y obtener fortaleza con Su intercesión y ejemplo para sobrellevar nuestros propios sufrimientos y problemas. Los fieles, vestidos de negro o con un ornamento negro, acompañarán a la imagen de Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores en procesión por las calles alrededor de la iglesia.

SÁBADO SANTO (Abril 11) ESTACIONES DE LA CRUZ EN FRENTE DEL CENTRO DE ABORTOS DE LONG BEACH 7am (2777 Long Beach Blvd.)

LA VIGILIA PASCUAL 8:00 p.m. (en el templo) En esta Liturgia celebramos la Victoria de Cristo sobre el pecado su Propia Muerte y su Resurrección. En esta Sagrada Liturgia estarán incluidos la Bendición del Fuego, El Pregón Pascual, una extensa Liturgia de la Palabra, y los Bautizos de nuevos Cristianos. Esta liturgia La Misa será multi-lingüe .

DOMINGO de PASCUA (Abril 12) EL HORARIO DE MISAS Anoten bien que no habrá Misas por la tarde el Domingo de Resurrección.

LA LITURGIA DEL VIERNES SANTO 12m (en el templo) La celebración de la Pasión de Nuestro Señor consiste en la Liturgia de la Palabra (la lectura de la Pasión según San Juan); la Veneración de la Santa Cruz y la Sagrada Comunión.

A las 3pm y a las 6pm Las Estaciones de la Cruz se actuarán, comenzando en el Templo en las esquinas de la calle 20 y Pasadena. Entonces acompañaremos a Nuestro Señor a lo largo de su Vía Dolorosa por las calles más cercanas a nuestro Templo. Al regresar al Templo podremos observar las Estaciones Finales de la Cruz, incluyendo la Crucifixión y Muerte de Nuestro Señor.
