HOGEN® Generators: A Family of OnHOGEN® Hydrogen Generators by Proton Energy Systems are a cost efficient, on-site approach to providing hydrogen for industrial and laboratory applications. Many customers can realize 60-90% reductions in hydrogen operating costs with an average capital payback of 2-3 years. Proton produces a line of automated, low maintenance HOGEN generators designed to meet hydrogen requirements from 20 to 228 SCF/hr (0.5 – 6 Nm3/hr). Higher outputs are achieved through “ganging” multiple units together. Utilizing our unique PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) electrolysis process, HOGEN generators produce ultra-high purity (99.999+%) hydrogen gas from only electricity and water. Output pressures of up to 218 psi (15 Bar) are achieved directly from our unique electrolysis systems. Look to the family of HOGEN hydrogen generators for cost effective solutions to your current and future hydrogen needs.

WHY ON-SITE HYDROGEN? There are two ways to fill your hydrogen demand. Have it delivered in cylinders or tube trailers, or make it on-site with a hydrogen generator. On-site generation with HOGEN hydrogen generators offer compelling benefits in most cases:

Proton’s Revolutionary PEM Technology Proton Energy Systems was created to design and build valueadded products that utilize our core PEM technology. While PEM electrolysis technology, a solid-state device for “splitting” water into its component elements, is not new, we harnessed its potential to deliver cutting-edge hydrogen generators. The well-established superiority of this technology has enabled the development of cost effective, safe and reliable on-site commercial hydrogen generation systems.

• Rapid 2-3 year payback on capital • 60-90% reduction in annual H2 operating costs • Dramatically improved safety, through reduced H2 inventory and handling

Meeting the Needs of Diverse Industrial Hydrogen Users HOGEN hydrogen generators are designed to supply hydrogen in a variety of applications. Hundreds of units have been installed worldwide.

HOGEN Hydrogen Generators BENEFITS: Low-cost H2 supply – proven alternative to delivered hydrogen with up to 60-90% operating cost savings, and 2-3 year payback in many situations. Safe – protects your personnel and site from the risks of stored, volatile hydrogen cylinders. Contains no caustic chemicals and contains less than 0.1% of the H2 in a standard cylinder. HOGEN H Series Hydrogen Generators with output capacity of 76-228 SCF/hr (2-6 Nm3/hr) cost-effectively meet a wide range of industrial hydrogen requirements. As with all HOGEN generators, economy, reliability and safety are built in. The HOGEN H Series generators’ configurable design offers you the capability to upgrade your hydrogen output simply by adding additional PEM electrolysis “stacks” to an existing HOGEN generator footprint. HOGEN 20 & HOGEN 40 Hydrogen Generators: If your hydrogen usage is 20 – 40 SCF/hr (0.5 to 1.0 Nm3/hr), a HOGEN 20 or HOGEN 40 generator is the ideal hydrogen supply solution. With hundreds of units installed in the field, the HOGEN 20 and 40 hydrogen generators are a proven method of supplying hydrogen cost-effectively.

Automated, Unattended Operation – just turn it on and your H2 requirements are met. Hydrogen at Process Pressure – up to 218 psig (15 bar) hydrogen without a compressor. Remote Monitoring/Alarms – remote alarm and shutdown contacts. Communication options for remote monitoring. Low Maintenance – requiring as little as 4-6 hours of maintenance per year Fast and Easy Installation – can be completed in one day. Small Footprint - compact design occupies only a fraction of the space you now need for hydrogen cylinders or trailers. Safe and Reliable Supply – proven field reliability.
