DIRECTIONS: 1. Rows 1- 6: Ch 36. Sc in second ch from hook. Sc in the next 33 stitches. 5 sc in the last ch. Turn work and begin sc in the other side of the beginning ch. Sc 33 stitches, with 4 sc in the last ch. 2. Sc in the first sc on first round (begin spiral). Sc in the next 34 stitches, 2 sc in the next stitch, 1 sc in the next stitch, 2 sc in the next stitch. Sc the next 35 stitches, 2 sc next stitch, 1 sc next stitch, 2 sc next stitch. Sc next 37, 3 sc next stitch. Sc next 40 stitches, 3 sc next stitch, sc in last sc, marking this sc (move this marker in each round). Sc around (84 stitches) until six rounds are completed, ending with the last sc in marked sc. Ss in next sc. 3. Row 7-9: Ch 3. Work 3 rows of dc, ending with a ss in starting ch. 4. Row 10: Ch3, *skip 2 dc, 7 trc in next dc, skip 2 dc, 1 dc in next dc. *Repeat** around ending with a ss in top of ch 3. 5. Row 11: Ch 4, 1 trc in the same stitch as joining, *skip 2 trc, dc in next 3 trc, skip next 2 trc, (dc-ch2dc) in single dc on previous row. *Repeat** around, ending with a ss in beginning chain. 6. Row 12: Ss to ch 2 space, ch 4, 6 trc in same ch 2 space, *skip 1st dc, 1 dc in 2nd dc, skip 3rd dc, 7 trc in next ch 2 space.*Repeat** around, ending with a ss in beginning ch.

Finish top of bag with 6 rows of sc starting with one each in all dc and trc - starting with a ch1 and ending with a slipstitch in that chain. 9. Strap: Row 1: Ch 8...sc in second ch from hook and across...ch1, turn. Row 2: sc across, ch 1, turn. Repeat row 2 for 110 rows. On the last row, continue down the sides of the strap with the sc going completely around it. Attach to the bag with a canvas needle. A lining and snap may be added if desired.
