History Fair Process Paper

thousands of topics came flying at me, but there was only one that seemed to catch my attention: the hippie movement. there is so much information on the hippie movement that i wanted to know it all. sadly, since so much happened during this era, i decided to study about what had happened during the vietnam war. this time was during the 1960s through the 1970s. as an aspiring youth, my thoughts on the hippie movement were cloudy. i clearly had no information on the subject. i confronted my parents and they briefly described what happened during the hippie movement and the vietnam war. after this talk, i was strongly into the idea of studying the hippie movement for the history fair. first of all, i went to the internet at school and found a great quantity of information. i took notes of what i found. on the internet, i found about two videos on the movement. i also asked my history teacher if she has any interesting and useful books on the topic. surprisingly, she did have a little book on the vietnam war, and a few pages on the anti-war movement. i gathered all my information and combined them and put them in exact order to create a large outline. this was extreamly helpful, due to the fact that i put a time line on my exibit that i've created. i decided to construct an exibit for this particular project. i was brainstorming on what i should do as soon as i determinded the topic i was responsible for. i was inspired by a tye-dye shirt someone was wearing, and since my topic is on hippies, i decided to make tye-dye my theme. for creating the backboard, i gathered as much information as needed and found very interesting photographs of the event. i placed a the tye-dye shirt, that i had made,onto the board. i also mounted pictures (black and white) and facts onto it with tacks, to make is seem like a bulletin board from the 60s. the theme for this year is conflict and compromise. the hippie movement involving the vietnam war is what i see as a wonderful example. as you may already know, the vietnam war is already a conflict. it all started in the year of 1959, when the vietnam war began. shortly after this, the hippie movement started in san fracisco, california. many students at universities across the country held "teach-in" rallies, which quickly transformed into protest marches as the war progressed. these students were against the war in vietnam, and formed protests. the first march to washington against the war took place on december, 1964. only 25,000 people took part but it was still the largest anti-war demonstration in american history. after the war had ended by the victorious north vietnam, the hippie movement slowly came to an end.
