Higurashi no Naku Koro ni When the Cicadas Cry- Discord Chapter --Welcome to Hinamizawa. You are here because you sought a peaceful life here in this quaint rural village. However, underneath the most placid of facades lie secrets... tales of murders most foul, mysterious disappearances... all thought to be the work of the god known as "Oyashiro-sama." It is the night of the Watanagashi, a Cotton-Drifting festival held every year. Oyashiro-sama's curse has occurred every time the festival is held... people are found killed under arcane circumstances. No one knows why. There are no suspects. Does the curse exist? Or is it all the work of a mass murderer? --Characters: Villager- you are just an ordinary person who lives in Hinamizawa. (the Townie) Student- you are an ordinary student who studies in Hinamizawa's integrated school, and due to the small student body, you know everyone who is also a student (but not their roles). Keiichi, Rena, Mion, Satoko and Rika count as students. In addition, Chie knows the roles of each student, and Chie is known by all the Students. (the Mason) Sonozaki- you are part of the Sonozaki family, one of the three Great Families of Hinamizawa. As such, you possess considerable influence over the town and your votes count as double. All Sonozakis know each other, but not their roles. Note that Mion and Oryou belong to this group. (the Double-voting Masons) Keiichi- you are Keiichi. With your natural charisma, you can save someone from being lynched during the Day. (the Day Baner) Rena- you are Rena. You are able to kill the first person to vote you for lynching at Night (assuming you don't get lynched) up to two times. (the Vengeful) Mion- you are Mion. In addition to having double vote capabilities, you can use your Sonozaki influence to interfere with Okonogi's/Ooishi's scans- once per Night, choose two players. The two players' roles, when read, appear as the other. This effect lasts until one of these players is scanned. (the Shroud) Shion- you are Shion. Ordinarily, you would win when the Villagers win. But if Satoshi is killed, you go out for revenge and kill someone once per Night. In addition, when this happens, you are read as Mion instead of Shion (but not vice versa). (the Serial Killer) Satoko- you are Satoko. You have the ability to trap someone at Night, preventing him or her from making any Night actions. (the Role-Blocker) Satoshi- you are Satoshi. Incredibly protective of Satoko, every Night, you are to kill one of the people who voted for her on that day. You know who Shion is, and if you happen to kill her, you commit suicide.(the Vengeful)

Rika- you are Rika. Being the Queen carrier, for as long as you live, someone gets infected with the Hinamizawa Syndrome at random, causing that person to kill someone and die. (the Virus) Chie- you are Chie-sensei, the teacher of the local school. You know who the students' identities and roles. In addition, all the Students know who you are, making you trusted by all of them. (the ????) Ooishi- you are Detective Ooishi. You can use your deductive skills to determine a person's role once per Night. This ability is useless on Takano, as she will always be read as a Villager (unless read by Tomitake). (the Seer) Akasaka- you are Investigator Akasaka. You can choose to patrol around someone's home once per Night, preventing them from being attacked. However, Akasaka cannot prevent an attacker from committing suicide, if the attacker should be infected with the Syndrome. (the Night Baner) Irie- you are Chief Irie. Your research allows you to immunize one person per Night from being infected with the Hinamizawa Syndrome. However, this vaccine only lasts four Nights (meaning in between Syndrome cases). (the Doctor) Tomitake- you are Tomitake, supposedly a photographer who comes every year for the Watanagashi Festival. You are intimately familiar with Takano, and you are able to investigate someone's identity as to whether or not they are Takano. (the Witness) Oryou- you are Sonozaki Oryou, the single most powerful person in Hinamizawa. In addition to knowing the identities and roles of every Sonozaki, your vote counts as triple. (the Triple-Voter) Takano- you are Nurse Takano, the true Chief of the Tokyo section studying the Hinamizawa Syndrome, and as such, hold control over the Yamainu. Your megalomania drives you to mass murder- you and the Yamainu discuss who to kill per Night. In addition, when investigated, you appear as a Villager (except when investigated by Tomitake). (the Alpha) Okonogi- you are Okonogi, Takano's right-hand man. You are able to utilize the Yamainu's resources to gain information concerning one player's role once per Night. (the Devil) Yamainu- you are a Yamainu agent. You take Takano's orders and perpetrate the killings every Night. (the Scum) --Hinamizawa Syndrome: Once every four nights (Night four, Night eight, etc.) , Rika chooses someone to infect with the Hinamizawa Syndrome. The person infected must choose one player to kill- when Day comes, the targeted player as well as the infected player are both found dead, in addition to the Night kills perpetrated by Shion and the Yamainu. --Victory Conditions: The following characters win when all the Yamainu are dead: All the Villagers

Keiichi Rena Mion Shion* Satoko Satoshi Rika Chie Ooishi Akasaka Irie Tomitake Oryou the rest of the Students the rest of the Sonozaki Family The Yamainu, Takano, and Okonogi win when they number half of the population. *If Satoshi dies, Shion wins when everyone else is dead. Otherwise, she wins when the Villagers win. --Explanations: -The Students know each other as Students, but not by their Roles. -It is illegal for the Sonozakis and Students to discuss their roles in the discussion threads. They may roleclaim in the game thread, but risk lynching/Night kill. -Barring modkills, maximum deaths per night is five. --
