Hearing for Daycare Owner Delayed WTVY 9/9/05
An Enterprise day-care owner charged with first-degree assault will have to wait at least 6 more weeks before appearing in District Court. Judge Paul Sherling postponed the preliminary hearing for Julie Watkins until mid-October. Authorities say Watkins was responsible for the injuries of a 5-month-old child, in what is called "shaken baby syndrome." The extent of the infant's injuries has not been released. Watkins claimed the baby had fallen off a bed at her "Tweet Tarts" daycare, which she operated out of her house. She remains out of jail on a $20,000 bond.
