1. Welcome & introductions

Andrew from Healthwatch welcomed everyone to the meeting and thanked everyone for attending in Angela’s absence. The forum then gave introductions.

2. Apologies

3. Minutes of last meeting

Spelling mistake on previous minutes – agenda item 5 paragraph 3 usual to be changed to useful. Minutes & Notes of the last meeting were then agreed and set as a true record.

4. Action points from last meeting

5. Hate Crime presentation by Sue Millward and Debbie Kenny

There were no action points from the May meeting.

Sue Millward from Choice for All Doncaster (ChAD) and Debbie Kenny from Rossington Outreach delivered a presentation to the forum to raise awareness on Hate Crime in Doncaster. Ado and Keith who work with Rossington Outreach kindly offered to share their stories/experiences on hate crime and how they’ve been personally effected. Most members of the forum knew or had a story relating to Hate Crime. Alison Atkinson - Hate Crime Coordinator for South Yorkshire Police told the group South Yorkshire police are currently engaging with schools and people 10years+ to raise awareness/respect of hate crime. Police are training officers who deal with the people affected by hate crime so they are aware of how to react to the situation.

6. Safeguarding Adults Bradford

Andrew suggested it may be an idea to hold a workshop around hate crime/safeguarding at the Keeping Safe event. Neena and Sean from Safeguarding Adults in Bradford came along to the forum to learn what we do and exchange ideas. Relating to the hate crime presentation, Neena spoke about police camps in Bradford which discuss hate crime and drug/alcohol abuse with children. Sean asked the forum if there is training on safeguarding within Doncaster. Stacey from St Leger homes explained they have training for each colleague in their organisation. Sue mentioned that 2

ChAD have forums which discuss certain subjects and there is online training with council.

7. Keeping Safe Event –

Emily told the forum that Shabnum is wanting to organise a separate planning meeting for this year’s Keeping Safe Event and anyone interested in being a part of this group is to inform Emily or Shabnum. A date will be organised soon. Andrew informed the forum that the potential venue for this year’s event is at The Hub, Doncaster College. A date is still yet to be decided.
