GOD OUR HEALER Exo 15:26 and said, "If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you." Jefovah Rapha. HEALS. (Ex. 15:26) rapha˒ (rah-phah); Strong’s #7495: To cure, heal, repair, mend, restore health. Its participial form rophe’, “one who heals,” is the Hebrew word for doctor. The main idea of the verb rapha˒ is physical healing. Some have tried to explain away the biblical teaching of divine healing, but all can see that this verse speaks of physical diseases and their divine cure. The first mention of rapha˒ in the Bible (Gen. 20:17) refers unquestionably to the cure of a physical condition, as do references to healing from leprosy and boils (Lev. 13:18; 14:3). Scripture affirms, “I am Yahweh your Physician.” (Hayford Bible Handbook) Psa 103:1 Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Psa 103:2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Psa 103:3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Iniquities and diseases are separate here. Mat 8:17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: "He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses." 1Pe 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed. Those verses show why healing is seen in the atoning work of Christ. The healing covenant in the New Testament can be seen below. Jam 5:13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. Jam 5:14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 3

Jam 5:15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Jam 5:16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Jam 5:17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. Jam 5:18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit. He is the same yeaterday today and forever. Joh 8:58 Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM." Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Healing ministry is part of the great commision. Mar 16:15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Mar 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. Mar 16:17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; Mar 16:18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover." There is nothing in Scripture to indicate that there will be any diminution in the work of Christ or the New Testament church during the whole church age. Jesus said that His church would do greater works than He had done, because He was going to the Father. Joh 14:12 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. The Lord Jesus Himself, healed through the power of the Holy Spirit, and the same Holy Spirit is still at work in the church. Act 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Act 2:39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call." Luk 17:12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off. Luk 17:13 And they lifted up their voices and said, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on

4

us!" Luk 17:14 So when He saw them, He said to them, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed. Luk 17:15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God, Luk 17:16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan. Luk 17:17 So Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine? Luk 17:18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?" Luk 17:19 And He said to him, "Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well." Healing can be progressive, the lepers are healed as they went. Not all healing occurs at the moment of prayer. Instant healings are often expected, and this shows a healing “in process” over a period of time following prayer. If healing is not instantaneous we ought not to doubt. Luk 10:8 Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. Luk 10:9 And heal the sick there, and say to them, "The kingdom of God has come near to you.' Healing is the promise of the kingdom. The Holy Spirit delights to confirm the presence of the kingdom by glorifying the King’s power, verifying Jesus Christ’s work through the ministry of healing. Mar 9:22 And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us." Mar 9:23 Jesus said to him, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes." Do you see that this shows us how we need to believe? Prayer and praise provide an atmosphere of faith in God. See below Jesus explained yet another obstacle to faith’s victory—why the disciples prayers had been fruitless Mar 9:29 So He said to them, "This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting." If we insist that we must always preface our prayer for healing with, “If it is Your will.” How can we have positive faith if we begin a request with an “if”? We do not pray for salvation with an “if.” Mar 1:40 Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, "If You are willing, You can make me clean." Mar 1:41 Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, "I am willing; be cleansed." Mar 1:42 As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was

5

cleansed. So if it is God's will to heal, which scripture affirms, why place an ‘if’ there? There are times when people have faith yet are not healed and we may ask why? There is an appointed time for us all to live. God has all things under his control, the Kingdom has not yet fully come. When the Kingdom has fully come there will be no more sickness and no more diseases, but for now we should come by faith believing. our God heals, he is Jehovah Rapha.

TOUCH THE HEM OF HIS GARMENT Isa 6:1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.

Isa 6:2 Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.

Isa 6:3 And one cried to another and said:

"Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts;

The whole earth is full of His glory!"

Isa 6:4 And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. THE TRAIN OF HIS ROBE FILLED THE TEMPLE. SMOKE FILLED THE HOUSE.

1Co 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?

6

We as the church are the temple of the Holy Spirit. He resides within us. Isaiah saw the glory of Christ and God the Father, similarly to what Moses did. The train of His robe is surely the hem of His garment, readily accessible to us as believers.

Mat 14:34 When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret.

Mat 14:35 And when the men of that place recognized Him, they sent out into all that surrounding region, brought to Him all who were sick,

Mat 14:36 and begged Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched it were made perfectly well.

The boat docked at Gennesaret, on the northwest shore of the Sea of Galilee. As soon as the men spotted Jesus, they scoured the area for all who were sick and brought them to Him that the sick might only touch the hem of His garment; as many who did were made perfectly well. Just one touch of the hem of His garment and the sick were made whole.

The word translated, hem, is actually referring to the fringes, or tassels (called tzitziyot, in Hebrew), required to be on the four corners of all clothing of Jewish men, in accordance with God's instruction.

Num 15:37 Again the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

Num 15:38 "Speak to the children of Israel: Tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue thread in the tassels of the corners.

Num 15:39 And you shall have the tassel, that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments of the LORD and do them, and that you may not follow the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes are inclined,

7

Num 15:40 and that you may remember and do all My commandments, and be holy for your God.

Num 15:41 I am the LORD your God,

In ancient Israel, men wore four-cornered outer tunics with these tassels, or tzitziyot, tied to the four corners. This outer garment became known as a tallit, and eventually evolved into the more formal prayer shawl. The tassels were to remind each Jewish man of his responsibility to fulfill God's commandments. In fact, these tassels are tied into 613 knots to constantly remind them of the 613 laws of Moses, of which there are 365 prohibitions (The "thou shalt not" laws), and 248 affirmations (the "thou shall" laws). The knots also correspond with name of God Yahweh. Because they were hanging on the four corners of your garment, in full view of everyone including yourself, they would be a constant reminder to walk according to God's Laws.

Mat 9:20 And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment.

Mat 9:21 For she said to herself, "If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well."

Mat 9:22 But Jesus turned around, and when He saw her He said, "Be of good cheer, daughter; your faith has made you well." And the woman was made well from that hour. Their faith made them well, they believed that God was able to heal them and they were ready to receive that healing. It is possible to think that we are operating in all the faith we need if we believe that God can perform the miracle that we are requesting. But we aren't using the faith that gets results until we believe it is going to work for us.

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

We not only have to believe that God is able but we have to also believe that He will reward us with our answer. 8

I have seen limbs grow before my eyes when people have had prayer for healing for back pain. My own left leg grew about an inch to align with my right leg. I have seen the crippled walk, I have seen people healed of cancer and other illnesses when the doctors had given up hope.

Mar 1:41 Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, "I am willing; be cleansed."

The words of Jesus to the leper were “ I am willing”

Mar 9:23 Jesus said to him, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes."

GOD IS THE GOD OF THE IMPOSSIBLE There is healing in the Atonement

Luk 1:37 For with God nothing will be impossible." Gen 18:14 Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son." GOD IS OMNIPOTENT- - able to do anything! He is God Almighty. Rev 19:6 And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings, saying, "Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Gen 17:1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, "I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. Gen 35:11 Also God said to him: "I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall proceed from you, and kings shall come from your body.

9

HE HAS THE POWER TO HEAL ANY PHYSICAL PROBLEM. Right so you agree with me so far but do you know that it is God’s will to heal you? Mat 8:2 And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean." Mat 8:3 Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. Mar 1:40 Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, "If You are willing, You can make me clean." Mar 1:41 Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, "I am willing; be cleansed." Luk 5:12 And it happened when He was in a certain city, that behold, a man who was full of leprosy saw Jesus; and he fell on his face and implored Him, saying, "Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean." Luk 5:13 Then He put out His hand and touched him, saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." Immediately the leprosy left him. See how Jesus said “I am willing” Jesus never refused to heal anyone who came to Him for healing. He healed them all. JESUS HASN’T CHANGED Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. GOD DOES NOT PLAY FAVOURITES. Rom 2:11 For there is no partiality with God. Mat 4:24 Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them. Luk 4:40 When the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them. Luk 5:14 And He charged him to tell no one, "But go and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, as a testimony to them, just as Moses commanded." Luk 5:15 However, the report went around concerning Him all the more; and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by Him of their infirmities. Luk 6:19 And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all God cannot be willing to heal one person and not another. He does expect us to have faith to receive that healing though.

10

HE IS JEHOVAH RAPHA Exo 15:26 and said, "If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you. THERE IS HEALING IN THE ATONEMENT Isa 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

GOD HEALS IN RESPONSE TO FAITH AND HIS HEALING IS FOR ALL. Matthew 4:23-24 23 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. 24 News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them.

Healing here goes along with the preaching of the good news of the kingdom. The gospel of the kingdom includes healing. Matthew 8:5-7 5 When Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to him, asking for help. 6"Lord," he said, "my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering." 7 Jesus said to him, "I will go and heal him." The centurion exercised faith and his servant was healed. 11

Matthew 8:13 13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go! It will be done just as you believed it would." And his servant was healed at that very hour. It will be done as you believed. Matthew 8:14-15 14 When Jesus came into Peter's house, he saw Peter's mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever. 15 He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him. Peter had faith and his mother-in- law was healed. Matthew 8:16-17 16 When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. 17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: "He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases." He healed all and this was a fulfilment of Isaiah 53. Matthew 9:6-8 6 But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins...." Then he said to the paralytic, "Get up, take your mat and go home." 7 And the man got up and went home. 8 When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given such authority to men.

The paralytic had to exercise faith to obey the words of Jesus Matthew 9:22 22 Jesus turned and saw her. "Take heart, daughter," he said, "your faith has healed you." And the woman was healed from that moment.

Healed by faith after touching the hem of his garment in faith Matthew 9:25 25 After the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up. Jairus had faith and his daughter was healed

12

Matthew 9:28-30 28 When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" "Yes, Lord," they replied. 29 Then he touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith will it be done to you"; 30 and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, "See that no one knows about this."

ACCORDING TO YOUR FAITH IT WILL BE DONE UNTO YOU Matthew 9:33 33 And when the demon was driven out, the man who had been mute spoke. The crowd was amazed and said, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel."

Kingdom authority includes deliverance. Matthew 10:1 1 He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness.

He gave the disciples authority to heal every disease and sickness. Matthew 12:13 13 Then he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." So he stretched it out and it was completely restored, just as sound as the other.

By faith the man stretched out his hand and he was healed. Matthew 12:22 22 Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see.

Deliverance for the afflicted. Matthew 13:58 58 And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.

They were not healed because of lack of faith.

13

Matthew 17:16-21 16 I brought him to your disciples, but they could not heal him." 17 "O unbelieving and perverse generation," Jesus replied, "how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me." 18 Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed from that moment. 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, "Why couldn't we drive it out?" 20 He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

Faith even such as a mustard seed can move mountains. Matthew 20:32-34 32 Jesus stopped and called them. "What do you want me to do for you?" he asked. 33 "Lord," they answered, "we want our sight." 34 Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.

They had faith and received their sight. Mark 1:25 25 "Be quiet!" said Jesus sternly. "Come out of him!" 26 The evil spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.

Jesus commanded the evil spirit to come out of the man. Mark 1:40-42 40 A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, "If you are willing, you can make me clean." 41 Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" 42 Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cured.

Jesus said” I am willing be healed.” Mark 2:10-12 10 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins . . . ." He said to the paralytic, 11 "I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home." 12 He got up, took his mat and walked out in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God, saying, "We have never seen anything like this!" Demonstration of kingdom authority should go along with salvation.

14

Mark 3:5 5 He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored. The man stretched out his hand in obedience and he was healed.

Mark 5:8 8 For Jesus had said to him, "Come out of this man, you evil spirit!"

Jesus spoke the words and demons had to flee. Mark 5:34 34 He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering." It was her faith that healed her. Mark 5:35-36 35 While Jesus was still speaking, some men came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue ruler. "Your daughter is dead," they said. "Why bother the teacher any more?" 36 Ignoring what they said, Jesus told the synagogue ruler, "Don't be afraid; just believe."

"Don't be afraid; just believe."

Mark 5:41-42 41 He took her by the hand and said to her, "Talitha koum!" (which means, "Little girl, I say to you, get up!" ). 42 Immediately the girl stood up and walked around (she was twelve years old). At this they were completely astonished.

He raised the dead. Mark 6:5-6 5 He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. 6 And he was amazed at their lack of faith. 15

Only a few were healed, too many lacked faith. Mark 7:29-30 29 Then he told her, "For such a reply, you may go; the demon has left your daughter." 30 She went home and found her child lying on the bed, and the demon gone.

A mother had faith and her daughter was set free from the demon.

Mark 7:33-35 33 After he took him aside, away from the crowd, Jesus put his fingers into the man's ears. Then he spit and touched the man's tongue. 34 He looked up to heaven and with a deep sigh said to him, "Ephphatha!" (which means, "Be opened!" ). 35 At this, the man's ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he began to speak plainly.

Jesus although being truly God, was truly human and He set aside His glory and used Kingdom authority, he was empowered by the Holy Spirit and He looked towards heaven in communion with His father then this man was healed. Mark 8:22-25 22 They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. 23 He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man's eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, "Do you see anything?" 24 He looked up and said, "I see people; they look like trees walking around." 25 Once more Jesus put his hands on the man's eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.

Those people had faith that Jesus would heal the blind man and he was healed. Mark 9:19-27 19 "O unbelieving generation," Jesus replied, "how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me." 20 So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth. 21 Jesus asked the boy's father, "How long has he been like this?" "From childhood," he answered. 22 "It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us." 23 " 'If you can'?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who believes." 24 Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!" 25 When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he 16

rebuked the evil spirit. "You deaf and mute spirit," he said, "I command you, come out of him and never enter him again." 26 The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, "He's dead." 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.

Strange how that generation were so unbelieving, what does it remind you of? They didn’t have the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit though and we do. Mark 10:51-52 51 "What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked him. The blind man said, "Rabbi, I want to see." 52 "Go," said Jesus, "your faith has healed you." Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

The blind man came in faith and was healed Mark 16:15-18 15 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."

The commission we have given includes demonstration of Kingdom authority. It includes healing and deliverance as well as salvation. Luke 4:35 35 "Be quiet!" Jesus said sternly. "Come out of him!" Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him.

Jesus just had to command demons to come out and it was so. He has given us that authority as his people we can see those things happen in the name of Jesus Luke 4:39 39 So he bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them.

Jesus rebuked sickness and disease. He did this because it had no place in her body. The author of sickness and disease is Satan himself. The nature of God is 17

that of a healer- he is Jehovah Rapha Luke 4:40 40 When the sun was setting, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them.

He laid hands on each one of the sick and they were healed. Luke 5:12-13 12 While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean." 13 Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" And immediately the leprosy left him. Jesus never said I will not heal you.

Luke 5:24-25 24 But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins...." He said to the paralyzed man, "I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home." 25 Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God. The demonstration of kingdom authority brings forth salvation. In Acts chapter 2 on the day of Pentecost 3,000 were saved in response to what they saw and heard but in chapter 3 a lame man was healed and at the beginning of chapter 4 we read that 5,000 men and probably woman and children were saved after seeing this miracle. Luke 7:9-10 9 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, "I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel." 10 Then the men who had been sent returned to the house and found the servant well.

Would Jesus be amazed at our faith?

Luke 7:14-15 14 Then he went up and touched the coffin, and those carrying it stood still. He said, 18

"Young man, I say to you, get up!" 15 The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.

Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, a man who had been lying dead in the mortuary was raised from the dead in the basement of a building while Reinhard Bonke was speaking. His wife had faith and had his coffin delivered there. The presence of God- the glory brings forth healing. Luke 8:48 48 Then he said to her, "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace."

When we exercise faith we experience that wonderful peace of God. Luke 8:50,54-55 50 Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, "Don't be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed." 54 But he took her by the hand and said, "My child, get up!" 55 Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat.

Just believe- be healed. Those were Jesus words. Luke 11:14 14 Jesus was driving out a demon that was mute. When the demon left, the man who had been mute spoke, and the crowd was amazed.

People stand in awe and amazement when they see the miraculous. Is it any wonder that the enemy has fed so many lies to the Church of God throughout the ages to stop us operating in power? Luke 13:12-13 12 When Jesus saw her, he called her forward and said to her, "Woman, you are set free from your infirmity." 13 Then he put his hands on her, and immediately she straightened up and praised God.

We should give praise to God for our healing, it is God who heals. Luke 17:12-19 12 As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance 13and called out in a loud voice, "Jesus, Master, have pity on us!" 14 When he saw them, he said, "Go, show yourselves to the priests." And as they went, they 19

were cleansed. 15 One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. 16 He threw himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan. 17 Jesus asked, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? 18Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner?" 19Then he said to him, "Rise and go; your faith has made you well." Jesus healed ten lepers yet only one a Samaritan thought to thank him. Luke 18:42-43 42 Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has healed you." 43 Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.

People witnessing the miracles also gave praise to God. John 4:50 50 Jesus replied, "You may go. Your son will live." The man took Jesus at his word and departed.

We too need to take Jesus at His word. John 5:8 8 Then Jesus said to him, "Get up! Pick up your mat and walk." 9At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. The day on which this took place was a Sabbath, Jesus was not bound by traditions of men, he healed this man on the Sabbath. John 9:6-7 6 Having said this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man's eyes. 7 "Go," he told him, "wash in the Pool of Siloam" (this word means Sent). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.

The man acted by faith and obedience and he was healed. John 11:43-44 43 When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" 44 The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face. Jesus said to them, "Take off the grave clothes and let him go."

20

Lazarus arose from the grave, although he had been buried in the tomb for four days because of his compassion for Mary and Martha and they had faith that if Jesus had been present their brother would not have died. Jesus wept with compassion, he hurts when we hurt, he is gracious, merciful and compassionate and responds to our faith.

YOU CAN BE HEALED Speak the Word out regarding healing the Word here applied to yourself Here are some healing promises which are yours by inheritance as a heir of God and a joint-heir of Jesus Christ. Declare it over yourself. By Jesus' stripes I am healed. (1Peter 2:24) It is God's will that I prosper and be in health, just as my soul prospers. (Matt. 8:1-2) Jesus can heal me through my believing, receiving, and speaking His Word or through the touch of another believer who is empowered by the Holy Ghost. (Mark 16:18) Jesus paid for all sin and sickness at Calvary. (Matt. 8:17)

21

Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. (Heb. 13:8) Because the Lord is my refuge and habitation, no evil nor plague shall come nigh my dwelling. (Ps. 91:9-11) I am redeemed with the blood of Jesus Christ. ( 1 Peter 1:19) I am justified by faith, not by works of the law. (Gal. 3:13) Jesus redeemed me from the curse of the law. (Prov. 18:21) I have been given authority in the name of Jesus to speak to the mountains that I face. As I command the mountains of sickness, despair, hopelessness, and lack to be removed in Jesus' name, they must go and be replaced with the fullness of God's blessings. (Mark 11:22,23) Because I meditate on the Word of God day and night, God's prosperity and success are overtaking me in all realms of life. (Josh.1:8) The measure of faith God gave me is growing by leaps and bounds. (Rom. 12:3) Because my faith is growing, nothing is impossible unto me. (Matt. 17:20) Jesus is moved with compassion on my behalf. He wants me healed because of His great love for me. (Matt. 14:14) Satan cannot dominate or oppress my life, because Jesus came to set me free. (1 John 3:8, Acts 10:38)

22

Just as God's grace was sufficient to cause Paul to overcome all of Satan's buffeting, God's grace causes me to overcome Satan's buffetings. Christ Jesus causes me to triumph in every area of life. (2 Cor. 12:9,10) I will rise above anything and everything the devil throws at me. Nothing can keep me down, for I am more that a conqueror in Christ Jesus. (Rom. 8:35-39) Today I will rise to new life from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept me. (Is. 60:1) Jesus is the author of abundant life, while it is Satan who steals kills, and destroys. (John 10:10) The days of my life are seventy years-and if by reason of strength eighty. (Ps.90:10) Long life is mine because I obey and honor my parents in the Lord. (Eph. 6:1-3, Ex. 20:12) My obedience to the Lord prolongs my life. (Prov. 10:27)

BE NOT DOWNHEARTED GOD IS HERE

Depressed Christians can find themselves riddled with guilt, obsessed with feelings of failure, and actually have problems believing that God loves and forgives them. They may know that God loves everyone, but they can feel as if God has deserted them. Psa 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. Psa 147:4 He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name. God is in the business of restoring, He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. The God who numbers the stars and calls each of them by name, surely numbers His people and knows each one of us individually and intimately. Indeed, he has numbered even the hairs on our heads. Luk 12:7 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. So, in God's eyes we are so very important. Jer 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

23

With His healing hand on a broken heart, And the other on a star, Our wonderful God views the miles apart, And they seem not very far. —M. P. Ferguson 1Jo 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. 1Jo 5:5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? God's Word says that we as believers are overcomers. Psa 51:12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit. God wants to restore our joy. Confess to the Lord any unconfessed sin. Rom 8:37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. Rom 8:38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, Rom 8:39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Isa 26:3 You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. The Lord loves you, and He desires for you to be kept in perfect peace of heart and mind. Phi 3:7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Phi 3:8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ. We need to get our perspective right. The most wonderful thing to gain of all is Jesus Christ. Psa 30:4 Sing praise to the LORD, you saints of His, And give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. Psa 30:5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. Joh 16:31 Jesus answered them, "Do you now believe? Joh 16:32 Indeed the hour is coming, yes, has now come, that you will be scattered, each to his own, and will leave Me alone. And yet I am not alone,

24

because the Father is with Me. Joh 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world." The trials and tribulations of this life pale into shadow for joy comes in the morning. God gives us peace. He has overcome the world. In Him we have the victory no matter what is coming up against us. Psa 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.

Isaiah 6:10 10 “Make the heart of this people dull, And their ears heavy, And shut their eyes; Lest they see with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And return and be healed.” Isaiah 53:4-5 4 Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 58:8 8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily, And your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard. Isaiah 61:1 “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, 1 Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; Jeremiah 17:14 14 Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise. Hosea 11:3-4 3 “I taught Ephraim to walk, Taking them by their arms; But they did not know that I healed them. 4 I drew them with gentle cords, With bands of love, And I was to them as those who take the yoke from their neck. I stooped and fed them. Malachi 4:2

28

2 But to you who fear My name The Sun of Righteousness shall arise With healing in His wings; And you shall go out And grow fat like stall-fed calves. Matthew 4:23-24 23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.24 Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them. Matthew 8:7-8 7 And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”8 The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. Matthew 8:16-17 16 When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demonpossessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick,17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: 1 “He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.” Matthew 9:35 35 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. Matthew 10:1 And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease. Matthew 12:15 15 But when Jesus knew it, He withdrew from there. And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all. Matthew 14:14 14 And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.

29

Matthew 15:28 28 Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour. Matthew 15:30-31 30 Then great multitudes came to Him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others; and they laid them down at Jesus’ feet, and He healed them.31 So the multitude marveled when they saw the mute speaking, the maimed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel. Matthew 21:14 14 Then the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them.

Mark 1:40-42 40 Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”41 Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.”42 As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed. Mark 5:25-34 25 Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years,26 and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse.27 When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment.28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”29 Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the affliction.30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?”31 But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ”32 And He looked around to see her who had done this thing.33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth.34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.” Luke 4:18 18 “The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; Luke 4:40

30

40 When the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them. Luke 6:17-19 17 And He came down with them and stood on a level place with a crowd of His disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem, and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear Him and be healed of their diseases,18 as well as those who were tormented with unclean spirits. And they were healed.19 And the whole multitude sought to touch Him, for power went out from Him and healed them all. Luke 13:10-17 10 Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.11 And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up.12 But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.”13 And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.14 But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, “There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.”15 The Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it?16 “So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?”17 And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him. Acts 3:16 16 “And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all. Acts 5:14-16 14 And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women,15 so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them.16 Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed. Acts 8:5-8 5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them.6 And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.7 For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed.8 And there was great joy in that city.

31

Acts 10:38 38 “how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. Acts 14:8-10 8 And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked.9 This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed,10 said with a loud voice, “Stand up straight on your feet!” And he leaped and walked. Acts 28:8-9 8 And it happened that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him and prayed, and he laid his hands on him and healed him.9 So when this was done, the rest of those on the island who had diseases also came and were healed. James 5: 14-16 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. 1 Peter 2:24 24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

WHERE THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS THERE IS FREEDOM 2Co 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 2Co 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. Just a little thought on those two verses. Isn't it wonderful to know the freedom that only Christ can give- where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom. Praise God! V 18. I think of this as beholding in a mirror “reflecting” as well as “looking into.” We are meant to behold something of the glory of the Lord, the veil has been rent in two, we are to be continually transformed into the same image by the Spirit of the Lord. We with ever-increasing glory, are to reflect what we behold, to become more and more like our Lord. Eph 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: Eph 1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, Philo says, “What the eye is to the body, that is the mind to the soul;” The desire here is that the eyes of your heart and mine are enlightened. The heart refers to the whole inner man. The soul has eyes that need to be and can be enlightened, flooded with divine light. The Holy Spirit opens our eyes and hearts in order that we can see something of the glory of our Lord. The purpose of spiritual illumination and spiritual perception is that believers may know and experience God’s calling, inheritance, and power. The hope of his calling is from Him and summons us to Him. It is a call to a victorious new life in Christ, through Christ, for Christ, and with Christ. It involves perfect deliverance and perfect fellowship. We are called to herald in the Kingdom of God in all it's fullness, we are to take the full gospel of Jesus Christ out to the people around us. If a friend at work is sick why not offer to pray for them and lay hands upon them in prayer in the staff room if at all possible?

33

KEEPING YOUR ARMOUR ON Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Eph 6:14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; Eph 6:15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; a) Loins girded with truth The first part of the armour is perhaps the most important for us to wear, because the truth that is being m challenged by the powers of darkness constantly . See 2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; In Jude 3 we are exhorted "to earnestly contend for the faith once delivered to the saints." We really do need to become strong in the Word of God to counter attack the lies of Satan in this day and age. b) breastplate of righteousness The Amplified Version reads "having put on the breastplate of integrity and moral rectitude and right standing before God." Isn’t it sad to reflect that integrity and moral rectitude are qualities that are not commonly found today, and they are even lacking in the church. Surely in these last days when integrity is becoming an increasing rarity amongst our national leaders, and the moral standards in the world are becoming almost non-existent, it is surely this time for the church to put on the breastplate of righteousness and integrity and shine in this world of darkness and immorality. c) having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace The Amplified Version reads "And having shod your feet in preparation to face the enemy with firm footed stability, the promptness produced by the good news of the gospel of peace." The sandals of the Roman soldier were heavy to give sound footing to those who would stand. We are to be prepared to do and suffer all for the sake of the Kingdom; readiness for march as Christian soldiers, readiness to preach the good tidings of peace. In Isaiah 52:7 it says "how beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good tidings...." d) Taking the shield of faith with which you can quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.

34

The shield here is the large heavy shield covering the whole body, in which the fiery darts i.e. the arrows with the points made hot or wrapped with burning tow, may fix and burn themselves out without harm. Polybius, the Greek historian describes their shields "the shield measures 2.5ft x 4ft with a depth of 3" and there is fitted to it an iron boss which wards off great blows from stones and pikes and in general from darts, though hurled with violence. Satan’s attack on the church is increasing, and will not cease, particularly as his time grows short, but God has given us the shield of faith which is more than adequate to withstand his every assault. "Resist the Devil and he will flee from you." (James 4:7) e) And take the helmet of salvation The soldier’s head above the shield was frequently open to attack. The arrow could shoot over the shield’s edge, and inflict a deadly l blow. We need to protect the mind. In Romans 12:2 Paul exhorts us "to be transformed by the renewal of our mind," and in Ephesians 4:23 "to be renewed in the spirit of our minds"1Th 5:8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation. QUOTE Jamieson comments "The head of the soldier was among the principal parts to be defended, as on it the deadliest strokes might fall, and it is the head that commands the whole body. The head is the seat of the mind, which when it has laid hold of the sure Gospel "hope" of eternal life, will not receive false doctrine, or give way to Satan’s temptations to despair" f) And the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God The sword is undoubtedly a very powerful and lethal weapon, and so is the Word of God in the hand of the Christian. Hebrews 4:12 says "the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. Jesus used this weapon against Satan in the wilderness and it is the weapon God expects us to use in spiritual warfare, but how many of us really know how to use it effectively. Smith Wigglesworth said that he would pay anybody £5 (probably about £100 in today’s money), or $190 if they ever caught him without his Bible. It is quite surprising how many people do not even take their Bibles to church these days isn’t it. We need to stay strong in the Word To sum up God has called us to be soldiers of Christ, but he doesn’t want us to be weak, compromising, wishy-washy Christians, but to be soldiers of Christ, ready and prepared for whatever he calls us into, to be prepared for any sacrifice in his service, and to put aside our personal agenda, and work together as one in winning our town, our city and countries for Jesus. This is a challenge as much to myself as much as to anybody else. Let's keep our armour on.

SATAN IS SO VERY REAL, YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT, BUT JESUS SETS US FREE!

1. GOD is Spirit Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. 2. MAN consists of a spirit dwelling in a physical body Jam 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. . 3. ANGELS are spirits that serve God. Heb 1:13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? Heb 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? We can't always see these angels or ministering spirits, although some do, yet the Bible repeatedly tells us that they exist. Similarly the Bible describes Satan as a living spirit being, who has other spirit beings (demons) who serve him. We must believe the devil exists for the same reason we believe in these other spirit beings, not because we can see him, but because the Bible teaches it. Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. Job 1:7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. Job 1:8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Job 1:9 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for naught? Job 1:10 Hast not thou made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. Job 1:11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. Job 1:12 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD. Job 2:1 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present

36

himself before the LORD. Job 2:2 And the LORD said unto Satan, From whence comest thou? And Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. Job 2:3 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. Job 2:4 And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. Job 2:5 But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face. Job 2:6 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life. Job 2:7 So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown. Satan is described as a real living being, just as real as God, Job, Job's family, and Job's friends. He could speak and reason. Mat 4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. Mat 4:2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward hungry. Mat 4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. Mat 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Mat 4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, Mat 4:6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Mat 4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Mat 4:8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and showeth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; Mat 4:9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Mat 4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Satan tempted Jesus. He is pictured as a real person, just like Jesus, the angels, etc. Again, he spoke to Him and tried to reason . This is recorded as a historical fact, just like other events in Jesus's life. Mat 13:19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and

37

understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. In the parable of the sower, Jesus called him the "evil one" who snatches the word from men's hearts. Mar 4:15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts. Mat 13:38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; 1Jo 2:13 I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father. 1Jo 2:14 I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one. 1Jo 3:12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous. 1Jo 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. The devil was sinning from the beginning, he lied to Adam and Eve in Eden. 1Jo 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. SATAN is a wicked Adversary. 1Pe 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Do you see he wants to devour us? He is the enemy of God and Man. Mat 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire

38

and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever The nature of Satan is completely opposite to God's. God is always good with no evil. He always acts to achieve what is best for all His creatures. Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: He rules in the unbelievers life. Satan caused the death of Job's children, loss of Job's possessions, and loss of Job's health: See Job chap1 Act 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. The devil oppresses. Luk 13:16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day? Satan caused the woman to be sick and bowed over with an issue of blood for 18 years. 2Co 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. Paul's thorn in the flesh came from Satan. Heb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; Satan has the power of death, but he is a defeated foe. Suffering, disease, and death are all caused by Satan.God originally placed man in a beautiful garden without pain, suffering, or death. None of these would be on earth if sin had not come, and the one ultimately responsible for sin is satan, not God. Joh 13:2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

39

Satan tempts. Satan is the enemy of man in every possible way: he wants b to cause our eternal condemnation and hinders the spread of the gospel and makes every effort to prevent our escape from it. He also hinders Christians in their walk. Can you see that we need to understand his evil purposes? We must neverfall into his trap but oppose him in every way. Rev 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Joh 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 2Co 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 2Co 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 2Co 11:15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works. Satan is a liar and a deciever. Mat 15:9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. He will affect worship and decieve with false teachings. Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it Eph 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Eph 1:23 Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all. Jesus built His church and is the head of it but satan has his counterfeits. Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Mat 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Mat 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

40

Mat 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Mat 7:19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Mat 7:20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Mat 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Mat 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. Satan likes the current move towards a one world religion. Act 26:16 But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; Act 26:17 Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, Act 26:18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Satan is powerful. Paul's preaching turned men from the POWER of Satan towards God. Joh 12:31 Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. Satan is the Prince of this World.

41

2Ti 2:26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will. He wants people to be in bondage and captivity. Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. If you commit sin you are his bond servant if you continue in them without repentance. SATAN IS A DEFEATED FOE 1Co 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 1Co 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 1Jo 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Jesus came to destroy the works of Satan. He defeated Satan when He died on the cross for us , then arose from the dead, paying the price for our sins. Eph 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: Eph 1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, Eph 1:19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, Eph 1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Eph 1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: Eph 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Eph 1:23 Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all. Satan may be strong , he can't defeat Him who is "above all rule and authority and power and dominion and every name that is named." Jam 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Eph 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Eph 4:27 Neither give place to the devil.

42

Eph 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Eph 6:11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Eph 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Eph 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; Far too often we have a problem in that we simply do not fight hard enough. We give up! We do not look for the way of escape. We don't resist the devil! Then we start to wonder why we fall! We need to keep our armour on. Heb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; Heb 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. Jesus wants to deliver us from the bondage of sin. Joh 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. The truth will set us free. JESUS CHRIST IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE, THROUGH HIM WE CAN HAVE FREEDOM. Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

43

CHRISTIANS BEING BEWITCHED Demonic powers intend to steal, kill and destroy. Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly. Joh 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. There is a type of witchcraft which is an enemy of the church for it comes in by the back door giving place to demonic activity, and battles against the minds of men. It challenges the Church of Jesus Christ by hindering maturity of believers, hindering church growth, coming against families, marriages and relationships with our brothers and sisters in Christ, and it holds back advancement of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.. You may be thinking that you would never get involved in witchcraft and cast spells and I am sure that as a truly born again believer you would not. But could it be that other forms of witchcraft warned of in the Bible? Can we look beyond our traditional perception of witchcraft and explore some other manifestations of the force of witchcraft, namely those that operate through our old fallen nature, in other words “the flesh.” Gal 3:1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified? Gal 3:2 This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Gal 3:3 Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? Paul taught that witchcraft is released through our own stubbornness and rebellion to God’s will. Note 3 words in the above passage BEWITHCHED - The Greek word translated “bewitched” is baskaino, and means to be charmed, seduced or placed under a spell.. FLESH – The word “Flesh” here is translated from the Greek word sarx, which refers to the carnal mind, which is enmity towards God. (The word “Flesh “ is better understood as the earthly nature of man apart from the Spirit of God.).

Think about this, have you ever been around somebody whose negative body language, harsh voice tone, stubbornness, or contentious attitudes made you feel like you were walking on eggshells? Did those actions and attitudes make you feel like he or she might lash out at you any moment? Even if nothing much was said, you could probably still feel some sort of negative force emanating from that person. Did you

44

feel you were getting a nonverbal message? Could that feeling be the result of a subtle form of witchcraft emanating from sarx? SPIRIT – The word “ Spirit” translated from the Greek word pneuma referring to the breath of God, the Holy Spirit, that which is the nature and breath of God. Gal 5:16 So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. Gal 5:17 For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. Gal 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. Gal 5:19 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; Gal 5:20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions Gal 5:21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Gal 5:23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. To live in the Spirit is to live in the opposite direction to living under the spirit of ‘sarx.’ Deu 18:9 When you enter the land the LORD your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. Deu 18:10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, Deu 18:11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Deu 18:12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD , and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. Deu 18:13 You must be blameless before the LORD your God. Deu 18:14 The nations you will dispossess listen to those who practice sorcery or divination. But as for you, the LORD your God has not permitted you to do so. Lev 20:5 I will set my face against that man and his family and will cut off from their people both him and all who follow him in prostituting themselves to Molech. Lev 20:6 " 'I will set my face against the person who turns to mediums and spiritists to prostitute himself by following them, and I will cut him off from his people. Lev 20:7 " 'Consecrate yourselves and be holy, because I am the LORD your

45

God. Lev 20:8 Keep my decrees and follow them. I am the LORD , who makes you holy. I have included those passages here to show how we as believers can actually prostitute ourselves and cut ourselves away from growing in God because we allow ourselves to be bewitched, if we allow the flesh our old nature to preside. We are called to be holy and blameless before our Lord. Pro 18:20 From the fruit of his mouth a man's stomach is filled; with the harvest from his lips he is satisfied. Pro 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. The words we speak over others or in situations are vital for the power of life and death is in the tongue. Jas 3:5 Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. Jas 3:6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. Jas 3:7 All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, Jas 3:8 but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. Jas 3:9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Jas 3:10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be. Can the same mouth speak blessings and cursings? Surely this should not be. 2Ti 3:5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. Negative words stating it’s not happening, or I haven’t seen much of signs and wonders on the streets could actually be denying the ’dunamis’ power of God. Religion can also release this type of bewitching when it intentionally avoids the ministry of the Holy Spirit.. Eph 4:22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; Eph 4:23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; Eph 4:24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. . The good news is that through our love for Jesus Christ we can see the old nature crucified.. The Word of God instructs us to leave behind or take off our old corrupted

46

manner of living and put on the new man, change our mindset, change our attitudes becoming that which is created in righteousness and true holiness in God’s likeness. God wants us free. Joh 8:36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. The word “Free” is from the Greek word eleutheroō and it means to liberate, to deliver , to set free. If Jesus has set you free, you are free indeed you do not need to remain in slavery to the flesh. You are a new creation- it’s time for the body of Christ to walk in that freedom which Christ has already obtained for us.

A PRAYER DECLARATION I thank you Father that healing and forgiveness is mine because of what Jesus has done for me, by dying for me and I receive that healing now of body, mind and spirit and I give you thanks that the blood shed for me has washed away all of my sins.

Therefore I will not live like as a captive any longer, because freedom is mine, because of what Jesus has done, and those whom the Son set free are free indeed.

I renounce all ways of thinking, even religious thinking that does not come from you Lord and I declare that my mind is being transformed and renewed by you Lord each and every day.

I repent of every word of negativity that I have spoken over myself, my family and I renounce them now in Jesus Name.

Every iota every semblance of unforgiveness that I hold on to in my heart towards anyone or any organization or church fellowship I repent of it now and ask you to forgive me Lord, in Jesus Name I ask it. (DETAIL THIS AND TRULY REPENT – RECOGNIZE HOW HURT YOU ARE AND FORGIVE)

47

I align myself totally with your Word for your Word is truth.

My body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and I declare that I will not allow any unholy thought or deed to take hold of me and infact defiling the temple; I am to be holy as He is holy.

I thank you that a life of abundance is mine because Jesus came to give me a life overflowing in abundance.

I thank you that all my sins are washed away and your Word also declares that all my sicknesses are washed away.Ps103: 1-3

I will not give away or break any covenantal rights that are mine because of the new covenant which Jesus has made with me, for what Jesus done was for my healing and deliverance.

I will love and accept myself because you first loved me and I will not despise that which Jesus loves. I thank you for that love which you pour out on me Abba Father. Thank you Jesus.

Your love is so great and I ask you to help me love others the way you love to care like you care, also to be able to show tough love when necessary, let me do all things your way and not mine, your way Lord and not mine.

I listen to the voice of the Lord and follow Him; I will not listen to the voice of another.

I declare that I am a child of the living God, I am adopted into His family and I am an heir to the Kingdom, therefore the Kingdom of God is within me.

48

I shall walk with Kingdom authority because God gave authority to mankind over every living thing and through Jesus that dominion authority has been restored and I belong to Jesus Christ.

I will not walk in fear of men because Jesus has not given me a spirit of fear; instead I am empowered by the Holy Spirit and will walk in might and power.

No generational curses will stand within this family because I do not belong under the curse, for freedom is mine, and freedom is theirs because of what Jesus has done. I renounce every curse word spoken over myself and my family throughout the generations. On behalf of my ancestors I repent of every involvement in witchcraft, freemasonry, the occult, religious man-made traditions, every sinful way and I declare that as from now on as for me and my household we shall serve the Lord and Him alone. I declare that my family are being saved in Jesus Name. (RECOGNIZE THE GRAVENESS OF ANCESTRAL SIN AND THEN REPENT)

I thank you Lord that every generational blessing which has not been taken up by previous generations I can take up now on behalf of myself and my family.

I declare that I am the head and not the tail.

I shall walk in righteousness and I am more than a conqueror through Christ who lives in me.

I will not walk in defeat any longer because the victory is won for the Lord has gone before me into the battle.

His glory lives within me and I shall be salt full of savour and a light that beams strongly into the darkness, for the light of the world indwells me and dispels that darkness.

I welcome you, Holy Spirit to come and fill me now, up and over to overflowing.

49

I declare that I will walk boldly as a disciple of Jesus Christ, and I will see many healed, saved and delivered and the glory of the latter house shall be much greater than the former.

I declare that seeking your face and more of you is my first priority, that my greatest desire is to draw close to you

In Jesus Name I make this Declaration This day. AMEN. Praying this prayer is only the start of a journey towards freedom, if you can access prayer ministry for deep inner healing I would like to stress the value of it, may God bless you on your journey to freedom. I too am on a journey but I have more freedom than I used have. JESUS WANTS YOU TO BE SO TOTALLY FREE You can be free of those deep seated hurts from childhood days, Someone took advantage of your innocence behind closed doors, But there was an unseen witness to the proceedings always, Your Heavenly Father wants to wipe away your tears forever more. He has watched you hurting there throughout the years, And He has longed to set you free, wiping away every tear, His love for you his child is love that goes beyond all measure, Right now he is beckoning you to come hither, come closer. You need to recognize what your abusers have done and forgive them, Remember what we pray “Father forgive those who trespass against us,” He has forgiven us of so much, his commandments we have broken, The blood shed for you wiped away your sins, take all those hurts to Jesus. Oh dear one, can’t you see he felt every hurt, every bit of your pain? He has cried and travailed with you when you have shed those tears, Now he wants to take every one of those deep seated night fears, Giving you a precious new freedom and you will never be bound again. So take it all to Jesus, ask him to help you to forgive your abusers, It can’t be done on your own, you need to have his help on this, Remember his love and compassion goes well beyond compare, Give it all over to him today and he will help you with the forgiveness. 50

And soon you will know what it is to be so totally free, For He will do for you what he has already done for me, Every chain , every shackle, He wants to break away, That you might know real joy and freedom in him today. Copyright © Irene McGough 2008
