EXT. HOSPITAL - AFTERNOON/NIGHT   Max is laying on the bed in the hospital; he hears his parents asking the doctor to save his life outside the room.   MOTHER Please help him, please. He's still just a boy.   DOCTOR We can't. All we can do now is help prolong his life. If he is going to live, he needs a new bone marrow transplant as soon as possible.     INT.HOSPITAL - RESTROOM - NIGHT   Max goes to the restroom, and washes his face in the bathroom sink. He looks up at himself in the mirror, holding the report from the hospital: "Recurring Leukemia, bone marrow transplant needed".   Max, feeling anxious, is irritable and depressed.     EXT. HOSPITAL - MORNING   In a different hospital, Lily anxiously enters her father's hospital.   LILY Dad, please help him, please...   LILY'S FATHER Calm down. What are you talking about?   Lily tries to take a breath to calm herself.   LILY Max, my classmate. You know, he had Leukemia, and you saved him before. But Dad, it came back. Please, save him again.   Lily's father looks at Lily, and his face grows serious.   LILY'S FATHER Lily, I saved him last time, so you must remember what I said.   Lily holding back tears...

2. LILY I remember. You told his parents if his Leukemia came back, you couldn't save him again. (Pause) But he's still young Dad. He's only 21 years old.

  Lily looks to her father.   LILY (CONT'D) Dad, you can save him, right? Tell me, how can you help him? He can't die.   Distressed, Lily's father looks back at Lily.   LILY'S FATHER Honey, I'm so sorry. The only way can save him is a new bone marrow transplant, but it's almost impossible to find a bone marrow match for him. And it's really dangerous. Some people are lucky and find a donor, but many people die during the surgery. The chances of finding someone, and the chances of success in surgery are too low. I'm a doctor, not GOD. I can help ease his pain, but I can't save him.   Lily's father pauses for a moment.   LILY'S FATHER (CONT'D) I think only God can save him. Let's put him in God's hands. I will pray for him.   Lily sits on the chair. She calms down slightly, agreeing.   LILY Right, only God can save him.   Lily closes her eyes and starts praying.   LILY (CONT'D) God, please save Max...  

3. EXT. HOSPITAL - MORNING   The day is cloudy. Max is laying on the bed in the hospital and falls into fear and is hopeless.   Lily, visiting Max, enters the room with breakfast.   LILY How are you today, Max?   MAX How do you think? I'm dying.   LILY Oh... don't say that, please.   Max turns his head to the window.   Lily leaves the breakfast on the table.   LILY (CONT'D) Do you remember what I talked with you before about God? He's the only real God. You are his son, he will make a way for you to survive this. I pray for you everyday, Max.   MAX Lily, stop! ...Please!   Max turns towards Lily.   MAX (CONT'D) You know I don't believe God. I don't want to listen to it. I'm sick now, and where is he? You said you pray for me every day, but I'm still sick.   Lily looks down, dejectedly.   LILY I know you don't like to hear it, but he's real. It's good to know he's there, and it's good to talk to him. He's amazing.   Max puts a blanket on his face. Lily sighs, and she takes out a Bible and a few gospel flyers from her bag.   LILY (CONT'D) Fine, I need to go now. This is for you. I'll be back tonight.

4. Lily walks out of the room and closes the door behind her.   Max takes the quilt from his head, and tears stream down his face. Max slowly turns his head to the window, his face mirroring the rain outside.     INT. HOSPITAL - AFTERNOON/NIGHT   Max lays on his bed, bored. He tries to get up, but he feels dizzy.   Max lays down back and he sees the book and flyers Lily left on the bedside table. He takes the book, it's the Bible.   MAX Oh, no. Why is this here?   Max throws the Bible on the ground, then takes the flyers.   MAX (CONT'D) What's this. Hmmm...   Max starts to read one of the fliers, a testimony story.   Lily knocks on the door. Max quickly puts down the flyer and turns his head to the other side. Lily comes in with dinner, and she sees the bible on the floor. She leaves the food on the table and picks up the Bible from the floor.   LILY You don't have to throw it. If you really don't want it, I can take it back.   Unmoving, Max doesn't respond.   MAX No.   Lily, surprised, looks at Max. Max pauses a moment and speaks levelly.   MAX (CONT'D) Just leave it. I don't care.   Lily pauses for a few seconds.   LILY Do you want to go to church with me tomorrow night?

5. MAX No, what?! Why  on Earth would you think I would want to go?

  Disappointed, Lily turns.   LILY Fine. See you tomorrow.   Lily leaves the room. Max stares at the flyer, then picks up another one and begins to read. Time passes, and he falls asleep reading, entering his dreams.   DREAM SEQUENCE   Max comes upon a large church; a child runs past him. Max is curious and runs to catch up.   Max catches up and sees the child meet an old man.   THE CHILD Here am I; for you certainly said my name.   ELI Go back: and if the voice comes again, let your answer be, Say on, Lord; for the ears of your servant are open.   The Child goes back to his bed. Max follows him.   Max hides, then Max hears a voice.   LORD Samuel, Samuel.   SAMUEL (THE CHILD) Lord; for the ears of your servant are open.   Max, surprised, hears the voice again.   LORD Max, Max.   Frightened, Max wakes up.   THE DREAM ENDS   Max looks around and doesn't see anything. The sun is rising. Max tries to calm down, and thinks about his dream.   CUT TO BLACK:

6. EXT. HOSPITAL - MORNING   Lily comes to Max's room to check up and bring breakfast. Silently, Max's eyes follow Lily as she sets up the meal.   LILY I think you have something want to say.   MAX Yes... I'm sorry about my attitude yesterday.   LILY It's OK. I don't mind.   MAX And, I had a dream last night. I...   Max tells Lily all the things that happened to him in the dream.   LILY Max, that's so incredible. Did you know that is a story from the Bible?   MAX A bible story?   Lily opens Bible and searches through the pages.   LILY It may be God calling to you through your dream.   MAX Really? I mean, maybe...   Max falls into meditation.     INT - CHURCH - NIGHT   Max is sitting in the church, and Lily is sitting next to Max.   They are singing worship songs and listening to the pastor's sermon.   Max starts to try to pray. Max feels joy and peace inside, and for a moment forgets his sickness. Realizing the source of his feeling, he mentally dedicates himself to come to church every week.

7. EXT - HOSPITAL - AFTERNOON   In church one month later. Max's nose starts to bleed. Max faints. (Cut to black) When Max opens his eyes, he's back in the hospital, Lily by his side. The doctor is talking with a colleague outside the door.   DOCTOR Max’s body is 50 percent cancer cells.He needs a bone marrow transplant as soon as possible. And don't let him leave hospital again - it's too dangerous.   Max slowly turns toward to Lily.   MAX Lily, you said God is the real one. I believed even though I'm not cured. I tried to be good, and I even pray to him. Why then? Why am I still like this?   Max is depressed and looks down, but Lily stares at Max.   LILY But how do you feel?   MAX I'm fine, don't worry.   LILY I mean, how are you emotionally? Are you feeling better when you are praying?   MAX stops and thinks a moment.   MAX I think I'm not as worried about it. I think I'm not as afraid... I feel peace inside.   Lily smiles.   LILY He didn't say he would do everything for you if you pray. But, he's the redeemer. He redeems our soul. Just like you are feeling, he puts peace in your heart even though you're still sick. Max, believe in him, and he will make a way for you to be healed.

8. Max nods his head, and holds her hand.   MAX Thank you, Lily.   Max kneels on the bed and prays to GOD.   MAX (CONT'D) God, I know I do not really know you. But, you've touched me and let me realized you are real.  I am a sinner. Please forgive me of my sins. I put myself in your hands. Whatever you do I will accept, whether I live or die. Thank you, GOD.   THE END
