He is Risen and so are We from GraceHour.org archives April 17, 2009 unedited
preached by Carl H. Stevens Jesus didn't use His Deity to be resurrected. He was raised from the dead by the Holy Spirit. Even though He was fully God, His humanity depended on the Holy Spirit for His resurrection. If the Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead, dwells in our mortal body, this same Spirit shall quicken our mortal body now, Rom. 8:11. How much do we really believe in the resurrection? Jesus Christ's humanity trusted the HS to raise him from the dead. He could've raised himself from the dead, but he didn't. This is crucial bec. Jesus didn't try to do something with Deity. Why? We are not God. We can't raise ourselves. So, in His identification, He wants to be like us, so He wouldn't raise Himself. Right now, when we come to the father through JC, the HS, when He is truly acknowledged, and trusted in, will quicken our mortal body. Therefore, we overcome anger, lust, sin, failure, weaknesses. Left to ourselves, its impossible. But, we trust in the HS to do it. He quickens our mortal body just as He raised Jesus from the dead. Picture the power and meaning of the resurrection. We are seated and we have the HS that raised Jesus from the dead dwelling in our mortal body. That alone will make you jump up and down and have hope. This brings us to current possibility of deliverance and present help. Ps 46:1,2 - Jesus is a present help in time of trouble. The same Spirit that took Jesus dead body, and the HS raised Him from the dead. God didn't take away the stone to get Jesus out. The stone was removed so they could go in and see he wasn't there. John 20;20 - he went through the door, when the disciples hid far away from him and stood far off, Matt. 26:56. After he died, they were hiding for a whole week. They hid after they saw him resurrected. They still weren't sure. They were afraid of the Jews. With no doors open, Jesus walks through the door. Picture this: He went right through the walls. The 1st thing He said, wasn't you backsliders. He didn't say, why did you forsake me. Who are you? No! He didn’t' say that at all. He said, Peace. Then, He showed they were not disqualified from serving him bec. they were
archived service at ggwo.org/gml backslidden. He said, as the Father sent me, I send you. I thought people have to get every detail right, and be watched and guarded and put on probation for months. That's what some of you think. Jesus said, Peace. Peter was commissioned while he was backslidden. That wouldn't be good for some elders boards today. The 1st thing the RESS. teaches, when Jesus bore our sins, the sins of the whole world, and we have to be saved or we'll go to hell. The 1st thing the RESS means, your sins were all placed on him, and you are accepted by the father, I Peter 1:18,29: 2:24; 2 Cor. 5:21. The RESS means, all our sins were placed on Jesus and He was accepted bec. He was perfect, with our sins placed on him. 2nd - our sins were buried, forgotten, forgiven, and lost outside of the sight of God. We were lost, now our sins are lost. Say, Amen! Jesus came to seek and save that which was lost. He died for our sins and took our sins upon him. While he was buried, our sins were lost from him. Death ended the life of our sins. That makes me happy. Rom. 6:9, he that dieth, dieth only once. Turn with me, in your Bible to Lev. 16. Ps 103:10 - God doesn't deal with us accord. to our sins. He doesn't reward us accord. to our iniquities. I didn't make this up. Psa 103:3 says, he forgives all our iniquities and heals all our diseases. Tell me...that won't make you sing. There are tremendous reversals in und'g ress. Mary was weeping and then Jesus appeared. Two angels were in the tomb...then Mary thought Jesus was the gardener. She was downcast. She was saved and delivered from 7 demons. Now, she thinks Jesus is dead. Jesus said, Why are you weeping? She said, They have taken my lord and I don't know where. IN John 20:16 - Jesus said, Mary! The minute He said it, she knew it was him. She went and told the disciples. Now, Peter was backslidden, and Jesus said, tell the disciples and Peter. Tell that old backslider, I am risen. John's writing, and I believe he loved Jesus, but He always tells you that He was the one that Jesus loved...The beaut. thing, peter learns about the RESS. Jesus commissions him to feed his sheep, after he went back fishing and caught nothing. The 2nd Sunday, and they met on the 1st day of the week...in case you have a problem with that...they didn't meet on Saturday. The 1st day of the week, Thomas the doubter said, I'll not believe unless I can put my hand in his side.
archived service at ggwo.org/gml So, Jesus comes through the door again. Jesus went right to Thomas. He addressed the man that needed him the most, the fellow that didn't believe. He went right to Thomas...and said, put your hand in my side and believe. Thomas said, My God and My Lord. He ended up being martyred in India. Don't be hard on yourself when you doubt or when you backslide. Thomas and Peter did. Failure is not the end of something. Failure is the process of new beginning bec. of RESS. Here's one who has failed and all the sudden they recog. what Jesus did with our sins. They now live as one raised from the dead, Rom. 6:6-13; and they grow in grace and know. of JC. Ress. teaches us how to be conformed to his image and not conformed to Adam, and our past. Its how to be conformed to the newness of life, and grace, mercy, forgiveness. A 15 yr. old girl got pregnant. She was going to take her life. He mom sent her a series of tapes. The mom said, I taught you to not do this. She said, I'll help you be a young lady. The girl had the baby. She goes to church. She holds her head up high and says, Thank you Jesus. He isn't living in sin. Her mom loved and supported her. The msg's from this pulpit gave her hope which is real. The HS took over her heart and life and made her feel worthy. She realized she was accepted in the beloved and sealed by the HS, seated in heaven, hid with Christ in God. She was the apple of God's eye. You tell me that this glorious gospel isn't the most exciting thing that brings hope. There is not a one, which this story that is real, doesn't bring hope to. I don't care how much you sinned, what your past has been, this msg, is hope, happiness, peace, purpose, and fellowshipping with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Glory be to God. God is perfect and so are we. WE are planted together in the likeness of His death. There goes the sins, past, pres, and future sins were put to death in Jesus Christ’s humanity as our savior. If we sin, confess, and forsake it and go on, but they have been put to death. He condemned them in his flesh. Sins can never be inhabited. We are raised in the likeness of his resurrection. We have been raised from the dead with no condemnation. Now, give God a hand. Wow! (applause)....(applause).
