BIOS (explain acronym and define)- a coded program embedded on a chip that recognizes and controls various devices that make up the PC.( Binary Input/Output System, Basic Integrated Operating System) 2. CD-Rom Drive- CD-ROM is a storage medium for digital data 3. CD-RW Drive - can also create ordinary CDs, though not rewrite them. 4. Chipset - a group of integrated circuits, or chips, that are designed to work together, and are usually marketed as a single product 5. Computer- a programmable device, usually electronic in nature, that can store, retrieve, and process data. 6. CPU (explain acronym and define) - is the component in a digital computer capable of executing a program (central processing unit) 7. Fan- a primitive in 3D computer graphics that saves on storage and processing time. 8. Floppy Drive - a data storage device that is composed of a disk of thin, flexible magnetic storage medium encased in a square or rectangular plastic shell 9. Hard Drive- is a non-volatile storage device which stores digitally encoded data on rapidly rotating platters with magnetic surfaces 10. Keyboard- are designed for the input of text and characters and also to control the operation of a compute 11. Laptop- a small mobile computer 12. Monitor- piece of electrical equipment which displays viewable images generated by a computer without producing a permanent record. 13. Motherboard - the central or primary circuit board making up a complex electronic system, such as a modern computer 14. Mouse- A device used to move a pointer around on the computer screen 15. PCI/Expansion Slot - socket on the motherboard for extension cards 16. Power Supply - a device or system that supplies electrical or other types of energy to an output load or group of loads 17. RAM (explain acronym and define)- a type of data storage used in computers.( Random access memory) 18. ROM (explain acronym and define)- a class of storage media used in computers and other electronic devices. (Read-only memory) 19. Sound Card- a computer expansion card that facilitates the input and output sound under control of computer programs
