Record-Breaking Pumpkin Thought to be World's Largest Weighs in at 1,725 Pounds

Typically found at a depth of around 600 meters (2,000 feet). Its slender body grows to about 160 cm long, and unlike most sharks, which typically have 5 sets of gills, the frilled shark has 6 sets. It is known as a "living fossil" for its resemblance to extinct, Paleozoic sharks. VIEW: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8X6GKcLkdRE

Reverse Trick-or-Treating

Global Exchange suggests a new twist for Halloween. Instead of traditional trick-or-treating, children can give fair trade chocolate to adults with an attached card explaining labor and environmental problems in the global cocoa industry. The card explains how fair trade chocolate is the solution to these issues. The Reverse Trick-or-Treating program was launched three years ago to raise awareness of child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking issues related to the cocoa industry. The goals of the program are : • To raise consumer awareness about the problem • To encourage the chocolate industry to utilize fair trade cocoa sourcing policies • To inform consumers about Fair Trade companies that are leading the way to industry reform WEBSITE: https://salsa.democracyinaction.org/o/703/t/9669/shop/ custom.jsp?donate_page_KEY=5154 SOURCE: http://greenlifestylemagazine.net/Issue2/reverse-trick-or-treating.php

Brian Dettmer’s Ghastly Recycled Cassette Tape Skulls & Skeletons Atlanta-based artist, Brian Dettmer, recycles, melts, and melds the musical relics into eerily realistic “skullptures,” including a full human skeleton made of 180 tapes! Talk about being a bone-a-fide upcycler… Of all things, how did Dettmer come up with bones as his subject matter? He’d already been contemplating the end of cassette tapes as media format when one day he spied a dead bird on the street and thought “here was this thing that used to live, it used to fly around and play a vital role, and now it is dead and all that remains is the solid material.” The analogy between analog media and skeletons was pretty easy to link up and before Brian knew it, he was creating a series of 12 human skulls out of tapes. Caught on camera: Dolphins play football with a JELLYFISH

Dolphins have been filmed playing an impromptu game of football... using a jellyfish as an improvised ball. A team of marine biologists were astonished to see a dolphin swim under a jellyfish and with a quick flick of its tail shoot it out of the water.

http://www.earthcinemacircle.com/

The bottlenose dolphins were caught on video performing the strange activity off the Welsh coastline. One dolphin was able to flip the jellyfish six feet up in the air. But something's changed. It's not the science, which has gotten steadily worse. It's the first signs that the planet's immune system--conscious citizens ready to make a difference--is finally kicking in. Bloggers, in this metaphor, are key antibodies-they recognize threats, and rally people to take the steps needed.
