H1N1 Flu Virus (Human Swine Flu)

The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care is committed to providing timely information related to the H1N1 Flu Virus. In response to information received by the Public Health Agency of Canada, correspondence has been sent to all Catholic schools in our Board to encourage staff, students and visitors to follow good health practices including: • • • •

Frequent hand washing Coughing into a Kleenex, or sleeve if a Kleenex is not available. Staying home if you are feeling ill Checking with a healthcare provider or TeleHealth at 1-866-797-0000 if you are experiencing flu-like symptoms and have traveled to Mexico.

The Board is working collaboratively with the Renfrew County and District Health Unit to ensure that these practices are occurring at all the Catholic schools in our Board and we would request the assistance of our parents/guardians in supporting these practices at home. For more detailed information on the H1N1 Flu Virus, The Renfrew County & District Health Unit has provided the following website: www.fightflu.ca or the Service Ontario INFO line at 1-866-532-3161. Thank you for your assistance in helping us maintain safe and healthy school environments for our students, staff and community.
