Guidelines for Application of National Pension Scheme (NPS) or “Kookmin Yeongeum” These guidelines are applicable to all OFWs in South Korea, whether documented or undocumented workers who have already gone back to the Philippines for good but have not yet claimed their NPS Lump-sum Refund benefits)
How to Apply the NPS Lump-sum Refund in the Philippines: 1. Submit your application for Lump-sum Refund to the National Pension Service Branch Office nearest to your workplace in South Korea. (Please refer to National Pension Office list) 2. Write your CORRECT address and telephone number so that the Korean National Pension Service can easily contact you anytime. 3. Applicants can make a follow up on their application DIRECTLY to the NPS branch office where the application was submitted and NOT with the Korean Embassy 4. Do not forget to affix your signature and put the correct Registration Number when filling up the application form. 5. Check the Bank Code of your bank (the bank where you have an account). Verify if your bank is capable of receiving telegraphic transfer (remittance) from abroad.
Procedure in Applying for Authentication from the Korean Embassy: 1. Secure and fill-up the APPLICATION FOR LUMP- SUM REFUND from the Korean Embassy in the Philippines. If the applicant would like to receive the pension/insurance though telegraphic transfer to their bank account or demand draft, the applicant should fill-up additional form which is the APPLICATION FOR OVERSEAS REMITTANCE and attached a photocopy of his/her bank book. Note: These forms can be secured from the guard of the Korean Embassy in the Philippines. 2. Proceed to the Department of Foreign Affair (DFA) and bring the application form together with the Sworn Affidavit / Statement executed by the applicant (Please check the below procedure in getting DFA authentication ) 3. After getting authentication from DFA, go back to the Korean Embassy and submit the following documents:
1 original and 1 photocopy of the authenticated documents from the DFA. Application form for authentication 2 photocopies of the bio-data ( 1st page ) of the applicant’s passport 2 photocopies of the bank book ( which shows the account name and account number) Note: The applicant should appear personally at the Consular Section (Window 2 ) of the Korean Embassy when submitting the abovementioned documents.
Procedure in Getting DFA Authentication: 1. Have the application for Lump-sum Refund and the Sworn Affidavit / Statement executed by the applicant be notarized by a Notary Public. 2. Bring the Notarized Affidavit / Statement executed by the applicant to the Regional Trial Court (Depending on the region where the Notary Public is commissioned) and secure a Certification / Acknowledgement from the Judge or Clerk of the Court (the certification should state that the person who notarized the affidavit / Statement is a commissioned notary public) 3. Bring the Notarized Affidavit / Statement and Court Certification / Acknowledgement to Malacañang and secure a Certificate of Authentication. 4. Bring the Notarized Affidavit / Statement, Court Certification/ Acknowledgement and the Certificate of Authentication from Malacañang Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Authentication division for DFA authentication.
