West Runton is found at the following location in East Anglia. Towns in East Anglia have also been labelled on the map to help show where West Runton is located:



West Runton is a small village on the north-east Norfolk coast. The following features are found on the cliff top in the West Runton area:



The processes of coastal erosion operating at West Runton include Hydraulic Action, Solution, Abrasion and Attrition. Each of these processes can be described in turn:



The types of coastal defences found at West Runton include Sea Walls, Revetments and Groynes. Each of them operates in the following way to control cliff erosion:



The problems caused by these types of defences are as follows:



The long-term future of coastal defences at West Runton is to remove them. This is outlined in a Shoreline Management Plan for this area, which states that 'managed retreat’ should take place at West Runton in the future.
