ABSTRACT  For a developing country like India to make progress it is necessary that agricultural and industrial progress should take place head to head.  In India, most of land use for agricultural purpose which produces semi-finished product or goods. Around 65% of people depend on agriculture as a main occupation.  Groundnut also one of the agricultural semi-finished goods. Groundnut is grown on small scale farmers in developing countries like India.  Since ancient times farming is done manually which causes lesser productivity and more time requirement.  The time has come to modernise our farming process so that productivity can be increased.

INTRODUCTION Among the many fast growing cash crops, groundnut is always sought after by small farmers. But the major hardship in growing this crop is harvesting. Harvesting and threshing of groundnut are the most important and labor intensive operations in groundnut cultivation. During Harvesting the fields need to be made wet the previous day with scant irrigation, so that the soil becomes loose and the plants along with the pods can be pulled out easily from the soil. Once plucked, the pods need to be stripped from the shell. Stripping the pods is a traditional practice done either by removing the pods manually or hitting the bunches with the help of rods. Lack of groundnut processing machines at affordable cost, is a major problem of groundnut production.

OBJECTIVES  To fabricate a working model which is simple, rigid and

robust in construction.  And which is simple in mechanism and can be operated by any worker easily and it should be easily portable.  To minimize the man power required.  It should have less cost.  And to simplify the process of groundnut cultivation.

PROBLEMS IDENTIFIED Present practice of manual harvesting and threshing consumes huge amount of labor. During peak seasons, due to non-availability of labor in time, delay in harvesting and threshing resulted in heavy loss to the farmer. Even though the power operated harvesters and threshers have been developed, their adoption level is very low due to varying power requirements and individual operation results in heavy loss to farmers. Lack of groundnut processing machines at affordable cost, is a major problem of groundnut production.

EXISTING MODELS OF GROUNDNUT HARVESTER

EXISTING MODELS OF GROUNDNUT THRESHERS

SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM A machine similar to the rice/wheat combine harvester and thresher is the present need of the farmers through which harvesting and threshing of groundnut crop could be taken up simultaneously. Sensing the success of rice/wheat combine, the development of a tractor operated groundnut harvester and thresher combine machinery was always been contemplated. The combine harvester has to perform the dual operations viz., harvesting and threshing, the groundnut harvesting mechanism, conveyors and threshing mechanism have to be mounted integrally to carry out harvesting and threshing simultaneously.

WORKING OF THE PROPOSED MODEL  The groundnut combine with the following components should perform the desired functions. 1. The harvester for penetrating into the soil to the required depth and digging out the groundnut crop with pods. 2. Picker conveyor pick up units of sufficient width to allow for picking and conveying the dug outcrops with pods from the soil surface. 3. Collection chamber for collecting the crops with pods conveyed by the picker conveyor. 4. Belt conveyor to convey the collected crop from one end of the harvester to other end. 5. Elevator for elevating and feeding the conveyed crop with pods from the belt conveyor into the feeding chute of threshing unit. 6. Feeding chute to regulate the flow of crops conveyed by the elevator into threshing cylinder. 7. Thresher cylinder for separating the pods from the vines of groundnut crops. 8. Blower for blowing out the chaff and dust particles after the threshing operation.

BENEFITS OF THIS MACHINE  It saves a lots of time required in operation like Harvesting and Threshing.  It can used in mass production.  It is of very low cost , lay man can also afford it.  No need of skilled labour required.

PLANS FOR 7th SEMESTER To identify the basic structure of machine. To find out the actual dimension of machine component like chassis, belt, conveyor, driving mechanism etc. To find out the mechanisms that we will be using in it. To start fabrication process.

PLANS FOR 8th SEMESTER  Make Fabrication Work Of Final Machine.  To do the assembly wherever necessary.  Make A Thesis On It.
