N a tion al Tr avel S e r v i ce I n c. “My name is Yannis, and I am proud to say that I was born and raised in the birthplace of civilization – Greece! I visit Greece frequently and I have been sending fellow Canadians there for more than 10 years to discover its beauty and culture. In our 2009 Greek Escapes program, Discover how the birthplace of Western civilization shaped the world we live in – from the might of Alexander the Great to the wisdom of Socrates. Explore a world where mythological figures from Sparta, Athens and Corinth remain as relevant today as they were 3,000 years ago. Today’s Greece attracts sun and sea worshippers from all over the world to bask in Europe’s warmest climate. The beauty of endless golden sand beaches and the charm of thousands of private bays and secluded coves are legendary. Recognizable symbols of past glory serve as enduring attractions of this ancient land. Travel to Greece is not only a journey through the land but also through time. National Travel Service and its team of travel experts and its efficient organization will help you discover ancient and modern Greece, from the famous Parthenon to the lively nights at typical bouzouki clubs, making sure that your stay is most enjoyable.”

Santorini

is another worldly place with a wild beauty, unique in Greece. Santorini is a “must visit” place in one’s lifetime. It is widely known for its natural beauty and its wines. The west side of the island is very steep. The collapse of the land between the island and the old volcano has left the east side that steep; it looks like it has been vertically cut by knife. Because of this, Fira (the capital town) as well as Firostefani, have some of the best sunsets. On the edge of the land there are numerous cafes, beautiful restaurants, and bars that are magnificent during the sunsets. Because of the steepness of the ground, houses are built in such a way that one house roof is the next one’s balcony. Through these houses there are narrow streets laid with tiles that offer the nicest walks especially during the evenings. On these streets are numerous tourist shops many of which sell beautiful ceramics made by Greek artists and other artifacts mostly of artistic nature. FLY

M y kon o s s e le c ted hot els Mykonos , the most famous of the islands in Greece and one of the

world’s most popular holiday resorts has been welcoming visitors for over half a century. Mykonos is a grand example of unique Cycladic architecture set around a picturesque fishing-village bay. Totally whitewashed organic cube-like buildings fit closely together to form a kind of haphazard maze of narrow alley ways and streets. The earthen colors of the bare hills which surround the town’s gleaming whiteness is set between the aura of an incredibly blue sky and even deeper blue sparkling sea. Its many well preserved windmills and hundreds of tiny red-roofed churches add a flavor of culture and custom to the scene, enhanced even further by many museums and the historical ancient site of nearby Delos. Together with being friendly and open people, the locals have a healthy understanding of what it means to have a good time. Put this together with all the island’s other qualities and it is no wonder Mykonos has been often named “the jewel” of the Aegean Sea. FLY
