For the past two years we have identified and completed renovation projects around the museum. After 40 years of use it was time for some serious renewal in some areas. To date we have completed around $120,000 worth of work. This money was raised through grant applications, corporate donations, or fundraising. We have one major and expensive project left to do this spring. We need to repair and repaint the ceiling in building #1. This requires contracting a renovation company to do this skilled work at a cost of approximately $40,000 we have estimates. The building is large, the ceiling is high, and it has challenging contours. This work must be professionally done.

As you are probably aware the “farm museum” will be operating at this ,’d year in 2009. The museum is owned, operated, and location for the 43 managed entirely by volunteers no paid staff and all collection, restoration and exhibition of artifacts is also done entirely by volunteers. We receive no funding for operating expenses. We are a registered charity. In the event the association dissolves our constitution states that the Township receives our assets.
The museum association and Langley Township council have had a positive working relationship for many years. We are most grateful for the support council has given us. We were very disappointed to learn we would not have a council liason this year. So we will just connect with all of council. For their information I have attached a copy of our most recent newsletter for each member of council.

Sincerely;
Thank You for considering our request.
We would be happy to answer any questions you may have. We would be thrilled to arrange a private tour for council members so you may see what you would be funding and what you may eventually own.
We are still short another $10,000 to complete this project. Could/would council grant us this extra money out of one of their funds PLEASE?
-
We have $21,000 raised in the bank for this project we have applied for a 2009 Township Capital Improvement grant of $7500 (maximum we are able to apply for) and we are expecting some corporate donations towards this cost.

Our latest prized donation!! A McGlaughlin Carriage McGlaughlin family in Maple Ridge. It is gorgeous!

We are on to the last major “Hurrah”!! Our ceiling in building #1 repair and repaint project still needs to be done!! This project is extremely costly as we need to hire a renovation company with specialized equipment and skills to do this work. The cost estimates have come in close to $40,000. We have a good part of this money raised- and in the bank or pledged but need another $11,500 to proceed with this project.... and have it done for our April 1st opening!
Fundraising In the fall of 2006 we started some serious fundraising. We applied for grants, corporate donations and other donations. We’ve had good support from the Township of Langley and the Province of BC. We have also had great support from some Langley businesses. Most of the actual work was done in 2007 & 2008. Work done and funded so far totals almost $130,000!!!! You have seen reports & pictures in past newsletters.
