GOSPEL IN THE WATER CYCLE By Sam Hendry As I observe and study God's word and his creation. I find He has many witnesses that point to the gospel of Jesus Christ. The Water Cycle is just one example. The water cycle: precipitation, evaporation, condensation. Precipitation - Rain falls from the clouds, flows down to the seas or filters down to ground water. Waters on and in the earth. Evaporation - Waters on the earth evaporates upward into atmosphere. Condensation - Water vapour condenses to form clouds which produce rainfall. Water cycle continues. This is
mentioned in Ecclesiastes 1:7 All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again. Gospel of Jesus Christ in the water cycle: Key verses for understanding: Deuteronomy 32:1-3; Isaiah 55:10-11; Ephesians 5:26; John 1:1,14; Revelation 17:15; Hebrews 12:1. Precipitation (Rainfall, waters come down)Proverbs 3:20 The Word of God(Jesus) came down(descended) from HeavenJohn 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. John 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the
will of him that sent me. Waters on the earth Ministry of Jesus Christ on earth John 1:14 The Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, Waters on the earth giving life, water flowing, water seeks its lowest level Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. Waters in the earth, gathered to the sea Philippians 2:7-8 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Ephesians 4:9 Now that he ascended,
what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? Crucified- suffered and died on the cross for our sins and was buried(1 Corinthians 15:3,4) As water gets in and nourishes through the root system so Jesus and new life gets into us through the hearing of God's Word. Evaporation (waters rise up) watersprings up from underground, water vapours, rivers return from where they come Ressurrection and ascension into Heaven Acts 2:24 Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. Ephesians 4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far
above all heavens, that he might fill all things. Vapours - Job 36:26-33; Psalms 135:7; Jeremiah 10:13;51:16; James 4:14. he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. - Mark 16:19 he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. - Luke 24:51 he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. - Acts 1:9 Condensation vapours/waters form clouds To form a great cloud of witnesses(Hebrews 12:1) Clouds in the heavens are witness to His continued mercy, grace, and coming judgment. (See also: Cloud of witnesses) In Hebrews 12:1a Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses. Although this verse tells of them in the past who had a
good report of faith(Hebrews 11). God relates the word cloud with witness. So when we look at a cloud we are assured that it is declared there is a witness to something of the gospel. As the psalmist says, Psalms 19:1 The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Furthermore God has continued to give witness to his goodness saying in Acts 14:17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness. More can be said about the cloud of witness. The rainbow in the cloudsspeaks to a witness of God's promise or covenant(Genesis 9:13). Christ second coming: Christ second coming will be in the clouds of heaven with power and great
glory Matthew 24:30; 26:64; Mark 13:26; 14:62; Luke 21:27; Revelation 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen. We have seen that they of faith that die in Jesus Christ are known as a cloud of witnesses. We that are alive shall also be caught up with them in the clouds to meet our Lord 1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Revelation 11:12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they
ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them. Note we can see the gospel in the water cycle by using God's word and how he relates the use of his word as word pictures. Some word relationships: Jesus as the Word of God as water as rain and snow that watereth as the word of GodJesus as the Word of God John 1:1,14 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, the Word of God as water Ephesians 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, rain and snow that watereth as the word of God Isaiah 55:10-11 For as the rain cometh
down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Deuteronomy 32:1-3 Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass: Because I will publish the name of the Lord: ascribe ye greatness unto our God. Cycle = everything has it's beginning and ending and continuing by God our
Creator. God's word continues with the believer Amos 9:6 WHY: Things of God clearly seen through creation - Romans 1:20. For the invisible things of him(God) from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
