Global warming is a world-wide issue. The author states that since the Industrial Revolution, a period which provoked the increase of the greenhouse gases, the Earth has started warming up little by little. Years later scientific investigations point out that there were a relationship between the global warming and the carbon dioxide emissions, mainly through activities such as cutting down forest or burning fossil fuels. In fact, the temperatures rose 1.5ยบ F during the last century and the predictions indicate a broad increase during the present century. The lecture strengths the aforesaid including dates extracted from a study based on a weather station located in the east of the country. Due to the flourished ski industry in that area, the rate of snow fall as well as the temperature registered during the winters from 1965 to 2005 were analyzed. The result was that temperatures had risen and the number of snow fall had decreased in 9 days. Dealing with potential consequences, both the passage and the lecture express potential consequences related to climate, economy and health sectors. Changes of the weather patterns may result fatal for the human being. To begin with climate that implies natural destruction, for instance, melting of the snow and the ice cover influence the levels of the sea, generally rising them to unexpected altitudes. As a result, many lands would be flooded and natural sources of water may be polluted generating water scarcity, infections and droughts. Concurrently, the lecture points out that economy problems may occur taking into account that a lack of snow fall means that the ski centres are opened fewer days. At the same time, the expenses occasioned by producing artificial snow become enormous. The economy impact not only affects negatively ski resorts but also hotels, restaurants and gift shops in remote rural areas which not for ski tourism, would be forgotten. The passage mentions that the changes in weather patterns might affect agriculture and transports sectors seriously too. In regard to scientists the lecture concludes that temperatures will continue rising and the snow fall days will be reduced from 25% to 50% in the next years.
