* general info japanese title: koutetsu no garufurendo (girlfriend of steel) official english title: iron maiden (c) 1997 gainax english translation: version 1.0 20th june 2003 translation: eclipsezeta editing, hacking and repacking: roxfan * changes from japanese version the original girlfriend of steel pc game was occupying 4cds. by compressing voice data to 128kbps mp3 it was possible to squeeze it on one cd without a noticable quality loss. ending song was compressed at 160kbps. the translation is complete, there is no untranslated japanese text left that i'm aware of. interface of all programs have been translated too, but some of the text was translated blindly, without context, so you might get some "engrisghness" in e.g. the error messages. i tried to play the whole game with all possible branches, but of course i can't guarantee that the text is 100% correct and the script is free of bugs ^_^ translated game doesn't need japanese support for playing, though it uses ms gothic font for displaying in-game choice menus. it wasn't tested on a system without this font, so you might get some spacing problems if you don't have it. * ending i was planning to subtitle the ending song too, but didn't have time to do it, so if you want to know what it's about, look here: http://www.animelyrics.com/anime/eva/ngeyokan.htm also, i couldn't find a nice way to translate the ending credits in-game, so i'm providing the translation at the end of this file. * random info the script is about 120kb, around 2800 lines. game engine scripts are simple text files, slightly encrypted, so it was quite easy to modify them. if the same system is used on playstation and sega versions, then it should be quite easy to make a patch for those versions as well. * contact info if you want to port the translation to another platform or translate in another language, or have found a bug, you can find me on irc, mostly on irc.enterthegame.com, nick roxfan. i usually hang out in #solar. i also have msn messenger, my id is [email protected]. the latter is my email that you can write to. * ending credits ================================================= cast ikari shinji kirishima mana
