GEORGIAN COLLEGE BOARD OF GOVERNORS HONOURARY BACHELOR OF APPLIED STUDIES DEGREE NOMINATION FORM Purpose The Honourary Bachelor of Applied Studies Degree has been established by the Board to honour external candidates who meet the criteria below. The candidate’s background and/or contributions do not necessarily have to correspond to the college degree areas at Georgian. The Award The College may award one honourary applied degree per academic year for each ministerial consent for an applied degree program in force at the time the Honourary Degree is awarded (currently 3 per academic year). The award consists of a framed degree, hood and citation and will be granted at an appropriate convocation. Under exceptional circumstances, this award will be presented posthumously or in absentia. Should there be no eligible candidates for this award in a given year, the award will not be granted. Eligibility Note: This criteria has been established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The recipient of an Honourary Bachelor of Applied Studies Degree must meet one or more of the following criteria: • • •

has made a significant contribution to society; has achieved noted accomplishments in a particular field of study or applied education; or has enhanced or promoted the college's image and reputation in Ontario or elsewhere.

Procedure •

The Board will accept nominations from Governors, staff, and students; letters of support will be accepted from community members;



Deadline for nominations is the last working day of February;



Nomination forms must be signed by three (3) people and may include a maximum of three (3) letters of support; forms may be obtained through the Board Executive Assistant;



Nominations will be forwarded by the Board Office to the Recognition Committee which consists of the Board Executive; internal Governors; President and CEO; VP,

Administration; and the VP, Academic; the Committee is chaired by the Board Chair; •

Recipients are notified by the President and CEO; all nominees receive a copy of their nomination package.
