GEORGIAN COLLEGE BOARD OF GOVERNORS’ AWARD OF EXCELLENCE Purpose The Board of Governors’ Award of Excellence has been established to honour staff who have made an outstanding and sustained contribution to the College. The Award A maximum of three awards (one in each employee group - Support Staff, Academic Staff, and Administration Staff) may be presented per year. The Award will consist of a plaque, a citation and a taxable cash award of $1,500 for each recipient. Awards are presented at a special Board event. Should there be no eligible candidates for any of these awards in a given year, the award will not be granted. Eligibility       

Completion of at least five years full-time or part-time employment with the College; Demonstrated commitment to the College’s mission, vision and values; Demonstrated support of the College’s strategic priorities; Recognized for consistently exceeding standards of performance; Well respected for integrity and willingness to contribute expertise and experience to team initiatives; Participation in on-going professional development and commitment to personal growth. Contribution to the broader community beyond Georgian through professional and/or personal activities.

Procedure     



The Board will accept nominations from Governors, staff, and students; letters of support will be accepted from community members; Deadline for nominations is the last working day of February; Nomination forms must be signed by three people and may include a maximum of three (3) letters of support; forms may be obtained through the Board Executive Assistant; Once received by the Board Office, nominations will be forwarded to Human Resource Services for completion of the employment history section (question A on the form) and to review eligibility; Nominations will then be forwarded by the Board Office to the Recognition Committee which consists of the Board Executive; internal Governors; President and CEO; VP, Administration; and the VP, Academic; the Committee is chaired by the Board Chair; Recipients are notified by the President and CEO; all nominees receive a copy of their nomination package.
