Zamboanga del Sur 1837: Zamboanga created as a district. 1860: Zamboanga district reorganised. May 18, 1899: Zamboanga Republic established. October 30, 1899: Military District of Mindanao and Jolo created from Cotabato, Davao, Lanao, Misamis, Surigao, Sulu and Zamboanga. November 16, 1899: Zamboanga Republic abolished. April 24, 1900: Military Department of Mindanao and Jolo created from the Military District of Mindanao and Jolo and Palawan. July 15, 1903: Moro Province created from Cotabato, Davao, Lanao, Sulu and Zamboanga by Act No. 787. December 20, 1913: Moro Province renamed Department of Mindanao and Sulu by Act No. 2309. July 23, 1914: Zamboanga province created from the Department of Mindanao and Sulu. March 10, 1917: Zamboanga province established by Act No. 2711. February 5, 1920: Department of Mindanao and Sulu abolished by Act No. 2878. June 6, 1952: Zamboanga del Sur province created from Zamboanga by Republic Act No.711.
