In the article “Bitch” by Beverly Gross she examines the word bitch and how it is used in today’s society. She looked at all different perspective that the word is currently used in from its actual and literal meaning. Based on my understanding about the article she gives opinion on how the word means to woman’s attitude towards the man. She focuses mostly on suppressive meaning that thinks every woman is expressionism and thought free. As she has sees the world men can hold over a woman in order to keep them in line and make do what they want. It has a big insult to woman because I think there is a gender discrimination that was happen as I see the world many of the work of man are also doing by woman by now. Men have always found sanctity and refuge in their masculinity as it represents what it means to. It does demonstrate the man should be dominant in society and that word is “manhood” that they call it bitch. The word bitch has been passing through our ancestors but then I think they are not taking it seriously like most Americans do but we millennial we take it seriously because we think it does degrade our self. I was also experienced this way back then that I was in the point of calling me as bitch by my fellow classmates but I didn’t take this as bad side of me instead I showed to them that I should have to overcome it and they did not succeed and eventually that apologizes at me and we became good friends. The lesson about this article for me is that for every action it must constitute a good reaction that will not hurt or ignore someone’s feeling. Towards the end Gross implies that the word bitch might not be powerful in the future like the case of Madonna. After reading the article it makes me think that should I use the word also or not? Because if I say I was agreed to that word I will also hurt God, and as Confucius said “ Treat others as you would like to be treated” it simply means that we should love each other not making bad impressions or fighting each other against our neighbors.
