Potential Unsafe Behaviors

Isolate the Tank to be Gas Freed from I.G. system main Line.

Transferring of dangerous Vapor into the Tank to be Gas freed.

Wrong I.G. inlet valves closed

Prepare portable water driven Fans

Back injury

Improper lifting technique

Starting the Portable Water driven Fans

Improper Ventilation

Low Fire main pressure. Not checking if the Fans are working properly.

Monitor Atmosphere in the Cargo Tanks.

Oxygen deficient atmosphere. Presence of Hydrocarbon Gases.

Use Fire and GS pump if necessary keeping at least 9-10 kg pressure. Verify fans are working properly and place portable water fans on the fore part of Cargo Tank. Calibrate instrument before use. Allow 10 mins. OF stop before taking final atmosphere check. Record all readings and log all results in Deck Logbook and OPS 36. Confirm Oxygen must be 20.8% LEL less than 1% by volume and no other Gases present.
