Honors Program Preparation
Things you can do in 1st and 2nd years: •1) Maintain an overall GPA of at least 3.2. •2) Read about research. Search the OUR database for research opportunities. Think about the types of research that you would like to do. Talk to faculty about research options in their labs or other labs on campus. •3) Work to achieve mastery of research skills. Take lab and core courses as soon as this is feasible in terms of your schedule and course availability. •4) Consider volunteering or working in a research lab during the summer – some programs carry a stipend! •5) Contact the Honors advisor in your major department for additional information.
