July 1, 2009 Dear Aurora Village Planning Board; In early 2006, I had preliminary discussions with the Planning Board regarding our interest in creating a new driveway and parking court to the east of our house. Because we were definitively told by Planning Board Chair, Nancy Gil, at the February 2006 Planning Board meeting that “front yard parking is not allowed in Aurora”, we did not pursue those plans. The Aurora Village Zoning Law confirms that: Section 407.B Off Street Parking No Parking is permitted in the front yard. For two years, we have observed our neighbors to the north at 327 and 331 Main Street regularly parking in their front yards. Please consider this letter a request for information from your board. We would like to know if the Village Law regarding front yard parking has changed or been reinterpreted. Or is the law being selectively and unfairly enforced? If front yard parking is now an accepted practice in Aurora, we would like to have that confirmed by the appropriate village officials. I have brought this matter to the attention of village government repeatedly and received no reply. I request, expect, and deserve, the courtesy of a response to this letter. Sincerely,
Laura Holland cc. Aurora Board of Trustees
