Welcome from Becky A Hero. We all know one. We all probably have one. All of us have different heroes. In the eyes of my grandchildren it is probably Spiderman. I have a few new heroes this year. The past year has been so challenging to many with the economy and the world the way it is. We have seen in the news a lot of people who have made bad choices and gone to jail. We also see people who have made good choices and rose to glory in the headlines. Everywhere you look you can see people with challenges. Some overcome the challenges, some give up and surrender to them. So what is a hero? Webster’s Dictionary says a hero is “a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.”

I think a hero is someone who can dance in the rain and not wait for the storm to pass. I think a hero is someone who plants their dreams and lets them grow. Every day we decide who we will be by the actions we take. As I look around at Becky with husband Paul some of our top producing Consultants I see many that are having challenges either with health, finances, children, unemployment etc. As I see them choose to be strong, choose to go on and choose to be happy despite their challenges, I am amazed at the examples that they are. One particular Consultant comes to mind right away. Diane Bochenek has been diagnosed with breast cancer, had surgery, chemotherapy and still is in our top ten. As I write this letter I know that she has been told by her doctor to have more surgery. Yet she is in a car

driving to Utah to our annual seminar. She has decided to wait a few days to see the doctor. I don’t know if I would have been strong enough to make the same choice. However, I am honored to think that she would feel like her trip to Utah was so important as to put surgery off a few days. Life is what we make of it. I love listening to Jim Rohn’s motivational tapes. He says it is not the wind that blows on you that will determine your course, instead it is the set of your sail. You see everyone has challenges, or wind, if you will. It is the way you set your sail, or your attitude that will determine where you end up. Some people blame the wind for their lack of success. You can’t depend on the wind, but you can choose to set your own sail. The same wind blows on us all. How are you going to set your sail? Let the wind take you where you want to go. You can’t change yesterday, but you can sure ruin today by worrying about tomorrow. Instead, choose to set your sail in the direction you want to go. I want to thank my heroes for being such examples to me. I say it all the time, every day is a gift, every challenge is an opportunity and every meal is a banquet…..now I can add it’s not the wind, but the set of the sail. I am honored that our consultants chose us when there are many choices out there. Together we will ride out the rough economy, the everyday challenges and together set our sails in the direction of success.

I let my yellow lab out yesterday morning and he took off out the door as if he was in the NASCAR finals chasing off all of the wild animals that take over the yard after dark (deer, raccoons, possum, porcupines, cougar, skunks, bears)! Unfortunately all he was able to catch up with was a SKUNK! I had to wait until after work to bathe him with shampoo and the hose. Nothing takes out skunk odor so he still stunk like a skunk! I have long been convinced of the soothing cathartic, mood setting, and multiple decorative benefits derived from the use of candles (particularly, fragrant ones that can bring precious memories to mind in a heartbeat or bring tranquility to one’s soul in only a moment). Ten months before the For Every Home division of direct sales was officially launched, I walked into a room where there was quite a display of product. Due to a previous work-related appointment, I spent only about five minutes surveying the items. During this brief time, I began to strongly suspect that these were the very candles for which I had searched for four years. That which drew my attention first was the unique topping on candles, because I always encourage my students to “put a special touch on everything you do!” Immediately, I was impressed enough to ask Barbara Williams for a catalog and told her that I would be getting in touch; I had quickly shared that I felt my quest to find quality candles had probably just come to a joyful end.

Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending. (Maria Robinson) In 1994, I was living on a large fruit farm in Provo, Utah. The hours were long, the work was hard and living on a dirt road meant our car was always dirty. On top of the farm work, the stacks of dishes and piles of laundry created by my four daughters and five step children kept me on the go around the clock. For Every Body Headquarters Driving down the long dirt road to our home one summer day, I saw my daughter Stefanie driving a tractor on the farm. She was a 12 year-old at the time and I was so afraid she would get hurt. My husband and I wanted our children to learn the value of hard work, but I knew there were better ways to teach them that lesson than by riding tractors! I wanted the girls to learn to work in a way that would be fun and safe. In 1995, I opened a retail bath and body shop called For Every Body in the local mall. We were on vacation as a family when we held a contest to see who could come up with the best

name. I remember writing the kids’ ideas on the back of a checkbook. Stefanie, the daughter on the tractor, came up with “For Every Body.” My dreams came true as the store quickly became a place for the girls and their friends to work. Before we knew it, we had opened three stores in local malls within three years. In 1997, we developed an all-natural line of bath and body products and launched them

nationally. Soon we had 15 wholesale showrooms and 150 reps selling our products. In 1999 we introduced a line of soy based candles to compliment our bath products. The candles were an incredible success, but I never dreamed we would turn into a candle company. Now, For Every Body is one of the largest privately held candle companies in the United

States, as well as the largest femaleowned soy candle company. From our farmhouse days, I could never have imagined we would be where we are today. There have been so many changes. The children are all grown up and we no longer have bath shops in the malls. A residential development covers the (Left to Right:) Joe Draper, Scott Lunceford, Paul and Becky Anderson land where our farm once existed. I am not even married to the same man anymore. Sometimes life has a way of throwing us curve balls, but I always say, “If nothing ever changed, there would be no butterflies.” As Dr. Seuss says, don’t cry because it is over, smile because it happened. Despite all the change, so much good has come along the way. Today I have the pleasure of working with my husband Paul, my exhusband, Scott, our other partner Joe Draper, some of my children, and a

wonderful team of employees. I joke as I put one arm around each man and tell the team it is “me and my husbands!” Many people are surprised we all get along so well, but surrounded by family, I am convinced we can make anything work. Our family keeps growing, too. When Paul and I married, he brought me two new step sons! In 2007, we launched For Every Home to give women the chance to make a difference and live their dreams. We want them to have the opportunity to own their own business while they celebrate the moments, memories and milestones that happen at home. Memories are a way of holding onto the things you love, the things you are, and the things that you never want to lose. So, here’s to a year of ™ unforgettable memories.
