SHOTGUN QB - Heels at 5 yards. Back - Toes on the heels of the QB The RB will vary his split according to the play. He may align from Gap A to Inside leg of the Tackle. Example: Trap - Tighten split Option - Widen The QB must work hard in practice to get his reads. He will fake or give with two hands at waist level. He will EXTEND and REACH OUT. The QB will ride the RB to his belt buckle or to his front foot. He must ride and decide while reading the movement of the DE. It is important the QB snaps his head to the DE and not to theRB. When he gets the snap, point his backside foot to the DE. Reads: 1 If the DE closes or chases the RB, KEEP and run to the perimeter. 2 If the DE sits or comes up field, GIVE.

TB COUNTER TRAP
QB reads the movement of the DE TB Jab stepopposite foot and mesh with QB. Follow T''s block. Motion blocks DE. Tackle get on top shoulder of Guard. Get hips upfield by dipping shoulder into the hole as he comes around the combination block.
QB Fake handoff to RHB And handoff to LHB.
Runwith two backs if DE is a problem or motion.
QB Counter Trap Same blocking except the QB runs the ball.
HB takes 3 steps toward the QB on the snap and bows back to run on blocking.
TB GUT
Playside OT must pass set to get DE moving up field & out of running lane. If he slants,OT must attack now. QB may keep if DE doesn't respect outside fake.
QB reads backside end on GUT
QB GUT Same blocking, only QB runs with the ball
Shovel Gut TB- Jab step on snap, run on pulling guard's block. Guard-Do not engage the playside DE. QB- Read DE's movement and that dictates whether the QB keeps or pitches. QB needs to slightly fade from LOS, run to sideline and off perimeter block.

Speed Option If you run motion, run it away from the play. QB - run downhill to inside shoulder of DE. It is better to run to the 5 technique as opposed to 7 or 9 technique. Keep TB 4-5 yards in front and behind the QB for pitch relationship. TB take step back with platside foot- Arc release.

Double Read Option-Shovel /Option On the snap, the QB reads the DE for shovel or option. If DE plays the shovel, RUN OPTION. If DE takes QB, QB delivers SHOVEL. DE takes QB and shovel pass is taken away, QB delivers pitch. If DE covers pitch man, deliver shovel pass. If the DE takes inside shovel, turn upfield and run option. Option man maintains relationship for option. Can also run mtion for this play.

JET SWEEP This play requires timing. Do not block anything inside the 5 technique. They can not stp the play. CCoach runner to get 5 yards from sideline. Path- head for hash, numbers, sideline. Playside X or Y block or reach man over. Wing blocks 1st man outside. PST reach first man outside. PSG pull and try to block the scraping playside backer. Center blocks man on man away. Snap when motion is off the B Gap.
